Today a massive fk off stone hit my windscreen and made me duck as I was driving along at around 70mph on the motorway.
I imagine that’s what it might be like getting shot by a sniper.
I’d have probably lost half my face driving this as lovely as it looks.
Food for thought.
Exactly my thought, in my old Fisher Fury with aero screen, I quickly decided only a helmet would suffice as protection from many of the aerial grenades thrown up by traffic or nature. I imagine that’s what it might be like getting shot by a sniper.

Here lies the problem, you only want to drive a car like this when it is sunny and warm.
When it is sunny and warm (both days each year we get up in Scotland) the last thing you want to wear is a helmet for a quick blast on the roads.
Technically having no windscreen is great for performance as less drag, however Im sure this aero addendum will be no less efficient than a full windshield.
So I conclude this is a pointless engineering feat by the clever chaps at Mclaren.

All so true. Cars without windscreens aren't cars in my view. Love the idea but it just doesn't work out on real roads. Maybe on track but then you'd most probably be wearing a helmet anyway. Here lies the problem, you only want to drive a car like this when it is sunny and warm.

I can remember at evo the KTM X-Bow coming in and me deciding to drive it home one night (50miles at the time). I ended up doing a U-turn after 10 miles or so, as I couldn't stand the buffeting any longer. My Lotus 340R was fab in comparison, thanks to it having a proper (heated) windscreen!
So we replace the mass (and roll over protection....) of a full windcreen with the mass of a load of vents and electric motors to actuate those vents?
Wouldn't it be better just to have an actual windscreen that can motor down and hide itself at slow speed when showing off to mates outside the pub, but that you can thankfully then have wind back into place when you actually want to use the car?
it makes me wonder what other conventional and really useful parts of the car could be replaced in the name of "style and cool" by other, very complex but broadly completely unsuitable things?
Perhaps the Steering wheel could be replaced by one of these:
The exhaust system by this
The glovebox by this

Anyway, I think it looks great.Whether it’s practical or not, I don’t care. After all, everyone loved the idea of a Renault Sport Spider without a windscreen.
Properly daft idea and ridiculous it has got this far. Clumsy, ugly and ineffective when anything of any weight (like a stone?!) gets thrown up.
Perhaps a clear protective screen behind the extended wake (or virtual frontal area increase) would be useful fix for this last (obvious) issue.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if the low pressure cabin area sucked in half the beasties passing down the sides. This is probably a result of losing all those motivated, professional engineers from the earlier thread!
