Re : TVR appoints new CEO; laments factory issues
Discussion
Peter Wheeler ... a guy who bought a small car company who knew nothing when he took it over.
Nikolay Smolensky ... a young guy who bought a small car company who knew nothing when he took it over.
Les Edgar ... an old bloke who bought a small car company who knew nothing when he took it over.
Guess which one deserves to be remembered. Perhaps chanting page 198 of the Book of the Necronomicon and a Haynes manual written in an ancient language can bring Peter back? I hope so..... but I doubt it.
Going back a few years, the TVR's were all SEAC and angular .... then Peter got in charge and went to a modern classic both inside and outside that still looks fantastic to this day.
If you look at the current design for the dashboard for the new TVR it looks like this
Which is like a Chinese rip off of something classy like this
Making a kit car version of a TVR in 2020 ... well the best of British luck.
One good thing about this current adventure is that at least they are being truthful about future mechanical issues. The roof on the plant has issues, just like the future drop top model.
It's not ding dong sadly
It's dong dong as the bells toll..........

So many miserable old bds queuing up to knock these guys... what they are trying to do it hard, very hard, and no matter what communications they put out The Internet is ready with lots of middle aged men calling out how terribly they are doing, likely from their safe office jobs.
Going to buy one then to prove us sad sacks wrong?Form an orderly queue behind schmee.

And the wheels are crap.
If you can't get the wheels right ....
Personal taste. Always thought the standard Griffith 500 wheels looked st, so I swapped mine.If you can't get the wheels right ....
Peter Wheeler did do a huge amount for the marque, but let's not also forget the (avoidable) Speed Six issues, which was what eventually sunk the firm, began on his watch too. And I say that as someone who met PW a few times and thought he was on of the good buys.

Many people commenting over the years are aware that it's very hard through having experience of what is required, yet when they say things are unrealistic, as many did and have been proven right, people like you queue up to comment cidered77 said:

Many will also be aware that as any new introduction drags on and delays mount, the chance of a successful outcome further declines. So far the naysayers, be they general pessimists or sceptical experienced individuals, have been right and the optimists have been wrong. Even if this does ever eventually see the light of day, the former will still be partially right.

They would have been getting the lease of that place via the Welsh assembly on a peppercorn rent anyway, and would not be liable for such an essential repair before signing any lease.
Its just another delay tactic to actually signing anything binding at the site, and shifting the blame as usual.
At least Les can use his one off hobbyhorse, mustang in drag example on the road now, so no more rush for anyone else to have one.

Something worth noting...
My understanding of the original delay was that the Welsh Government own a 5% stake in TVR as it stands now. Due to EU fairness rules, the company had to put out a tender for construction of the factory and make it available to construction companies across the EU so they can bid.
One assumes that the people who got the job went and screwed it up. So this is not about surveys or anything like that, this is about a contractor who messed up. I don't know who the contractor is/was or whether they are the ones fixing it, but it's worth noting this in the thread.
(P.S. I don't want this to turn into a pro/anti EU rant so let's just leave those comments out right now).

And there is a lot of 'trouble' in UK construction right now: https://www.constructionnews.co.uk/financial/2019-...My understanding of the original delay was that the Welsh Government own a 5% stake in TVR as it stands now.
