That front seat closely resembles a very old pair of underpants I used to have.
You had leather underpants? Kinky...

Lot of hate on here for what are very minor cosmetic personalisations. It's not hard to repaint wheels and calipers, remove stickers and spoilers. If it were a £10,000 car then yes, be fussy. If you need to buy at this price point you'll make allowances for this sort of stuff.

Loads of negative comments particularly about wheels and paint etc, which I sort of understand, but I think people are forgetting that its a shed - hence its only £1500? You won't find a low mileage original TT 225 for £1500.

I'm not a huge fan, but to be fair, for the money, its a pretty quick and capable car still, even in 2020 and a small re-map would see it keep a lot of moderns honest.

I'm also a huge fan of the mk1 TT, and I have fancied one since they came out, but this one is not for me....

An unmolested, clean, 225 quattro TT coupe in moro blue or olive green on the other I'd I'd take everyday!!
But then it would be at least 3,5k and no sotw...
Dream on

Agree that this is a bargain, change that chav stuff, TLC and maintain it properly, drive and enjoy, then after 2 or 3 yrs, sell it off for 2 or 3k, cheap bangin at its best

It's not so much the tat as what it tells you about the previous owner.

I'd rather buy a car from someone who prioritises oil changes and insurance policies over black wheels and green callipers.

It does have a service history though.

I can see a lot of potential in it to use as a half decent track car, strip out the seats and put a couple of buckets in, deal with the rear spring issue by fitting a set of coilovers and off you go and have some fun. could have a great car for under £2500

How many times can the word "chav" be used in one thread?

One of the best car designs of 'recent' times. Still looks great. I actually prefer the Mk1 to the Mk2.

Not sure about this specific example though.
Beauty is in the eye etc....

I personally think that it is the ugliest car ever built and now looks extremely dated. Only suitable as an engine donor for something like a Mk2 Golf.
Specsavers called. You missed your appointment. wink

The rear spoiler would (I guess) be fairly easy to replace with a factory example. It looks like the "thing" that has been appended to this Audi's arse probably mounts in the same points as the original. Get one off a scrapper. Refinish those black alloys they'll be fine in gunmetal and let the calipers accumulate some muck. Interior looks OK. I've always liked the shape of the mk1 TT though I must admit I've never as much as sat in one so I'm not sure as a 6'2"-er if I'd be able to get in the damn thing.

Thumbs up from me,

I still like the look of them BUT nothing says super-chav more than black wheels on an older light-coloured car.

Any car round my way that has had that treatment also seems to get ragged rotten, neglected and trashed.

This one's got a pretty full chav-bingo card too; spacers, stickers, "carbon" tat and Halfords-paint callipers.

All it needs to get full house is some illegal tints and 3D plates.

Shame, as if it looked standard I'd be thinking it might be worth a punt if I could figure out how to sort the interior.

I have black wheels on my Cooper S and I'm not a fan either(the car is black). I'm yet to see a car where black wheels actually suit it. They are one of the worst trends to ever come out I think, and silver wheels look a million times better for me.
And yet so many people can't be arsed to clean their wheels so they drive around with them black in any case...........................

I don't agree with the under 6ft part, I'm 6ft 3 and got in and out easily the second part about being driven by males is strangely true no idea why they're a lot faster than an mx5 and rot less
My father in law had one of these and I have been a passenger in the back (at 6ft 3), indeed Houdini would have had a hard time getting out. The front 2 seats though, no problem at all , much better then many other small cars

I'd love a mk1 TT as a cheap bit of fun thats also marginally practical (although I wouldn't be buying this one with that spoiler stuck on the back!)

What are they like to drive?
I had a 2wd mk2 when my neighbour had a 225bhp mk1, so I was lucky enough to compare the two.
My experience was that I loved driving her car, but never really enjoyed my mk2. In the mk1 the steering felt so much better and the car felt more solid and planted. Even the acceleration felt better and i find myself thrashing my mk2 almost to punish it for being unrewarding.
