I drive mine regularly. Sounds phenominal, and with a couple of tweaks it handles like it should. Fantastic car, and the last of it's kind.

You really don't understand what a skunkworks thing this is until you get under the skin. I struggle to believe its an OE car sometimes.

Mine is OEM+ with an RS sabelt wheel, Recaro Trendlines, Clio V6 Trophy wheels and Trophy ducktail spoiler, and a sports exhaust.

Yes! Lost touch with everyone when I sold my 172 Cup but I did go out in his Turbo 2 once, bit bonkers.

I passed up a Phase 1 in the same red colour for £8k as it was 'too impractical', I didn't even have kids. Oh well!
I only made it out there the once, think my zebra painted sunny ZX made an impression though!

Driving this thing now

On the plus side, they draw attention like the rarest of supercars. On the negative they are slow as Fu*k and about as involving a drive as an invalid carriage. I still may be tempted.

I’ve only ever seen one on the road !
I followed one in Essex, shortly after they first came came out. I had a phase 2 R19 16 Valve @ the time.,

So, are they really that uninspiring to drive / slow ?

Slow, thirsty and uninspiring to drive.

But the amount of interest it gets it absolutely insane

It's essentially a wiggly 172/182.

Really? My Ph1 is way better than my Ph2, but dull? Never. It's a real smile per gallons car. Even at low speed.

Is it fat, slower than the 172 etc etc etc. Yes....

'Slow' is relative but given how outlandish these are from the outside they certainly need a lot more power. They are much heavier than a 182 due to all the mods/strengthening etc thus the power to weight wasn't much better.

That’s not fair... the uninspiring bit, anyway.

If you like a challenge and you are a bit bored sliding normal cars at various angles... then the Clio V6 can bring new challenges. I like them, just in case anyone thinks I’m being sarcastic.

No. Not in the slightest. Mine isn't anyway and I'll see off all but the heavily modified 172/182 clan on both the straights and the B roads.

You have to drive it a bit differently to a hot hatch but it's very rewarding, entertaining, fun and always an event. It surprises a lot of people particularly the ones that parrot what gets banded around the internet.

For reference I've owned many RS cars including a couple of 172's, and a 197 and now a 197 turbo.

Come on, even the various group buys for aftermarket quicksilver exhausts didn't make the V6 sound that interesting. My experience with a phase 2 was that it looked the bollcensoredcks, but was utterly dull to drive.

always liked the phase 2, although I never bought one or driven one, once I sat in one to see if that was a good place to be, but it felt 'strange' not a nice steering and I believe you sat on it instead of in it? or how you say that...not very sporty feeling/interior.

but the looks and strange not a normal car so to speak and the phase 2 was way better in handling so testdrivers said?

also better looking me thinks, and a bit more horses, although 250 is still not that much, I would like around 300 at least, but then when I got the money to spent after I sold my car at that time, prices went sky high in NL for such phase 2 (also for the first model)

The cheapest on in the Netherlands at the moment is 44k euro for a phase 1, no phase 2 at the moment

Strange that the seller has done these upgrades, but still has the OG seats fitted. Weren't they famously sh*t - giving you the feeling that you were sat on the car, rather than in it?

Wrong hand drive for me, but if it weren't I'd invest into this at this price. As always, LHD examples are PRICEY :-(

There are plenty of cars which are held in incredibly high regard, despite being flawed.

The Clio V6 is obviously one
Any TVR (controversial one but I stand by this)
The Pug 205 GTI

It’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I think it’s a discussion which needs some context
