They did a purply one and a mad green one, which were nice IMO, given that was the start of the grey-silver automotive period.
The four wheel drive was proven on a Swedish TV test not to work properly.
Tallish normal estate car......twas the shape of things to come.

After some great Sheds recently they’ve certainly come crashing down with this effort. Apart from being different which in this case is not a good thing, this car (I use the term loosely) has little going for it.

I remember borrowing a colleagues back in the day and wondering who in their right mind would buy this noisy, tinny, slow, bad handling, ugly piece of nastiness.

In my head I’ve got a scenario where a genius Honda engineer finally gets his dream to lead and design his car. He comes up with the HRV, with ideas of young people having fun, roadtrips, weekends away, going windsurfing in his car.

Instead, every one built spent its days in a garage, then doddling along an A road at 39mph to the nearest garden centre. Never carrying more than 2 pensioners and a tartan blanket.

Quite like these but I'm not really sure what they were 'for' - they just seem to be a bit of a compromise of too many things. And slow. the colour of this one is horrible too. This sort of shade of light metallic blue rarely suits any car imo.

Exactly like the Renault Modus, the marketing bods said it would be great for young cool things (god knows why they thought that, did they actually look at it), in truth, only old people bought it.

why do i like st cars like these? something to do with it setting the bar so low even a few redeeming features means it beats expectations.

I love these. Always thought of the Skoda Yeti as the spiritual successor to these, a shame Skoda eventually gave in and replaced that with a conventional looking SUV.

Our local farm has one that pulls a trailer so you can have a tour of all the paddocks etc, it's been going forever and I assume will never die,

I actually had these on the short list when looking for my current shed .
I wanted the higher seat because my back is fubar and they did an automatic version as my knees are also fubar.
I eventually found one of the right spec that wasn't as rotten as a pear but it was being sold by a garage that charged a £199 buyers premium and the salesperson was a very very annoying twonk.
I love the styling , got a thing for wedgey boxy cars .
I bought a petrol X trail t30 and have not been disappointed.

One of these caused my only crash !

Owner was too skint/tight to put a new battery in it, it conked out on a dual carriageway, too skint/tight to pay for breakdown insurance so calls his dad (This was the third occasion he had done this, so a well practiced process for them) who executes a three point turn across three lanes, he thought the road was empty, it was there was me in a Skoda Octavia Company Pool car.

So, no dont like !

And "Blue Rinse Brigade" doesn't describe old ladies so much these days, lots of younger women with hair dyed grey with a pink/blue/purple etc tint, can look stunning.

I owned one of these, great little car, and look very individual. The next HR-V they made was shockingly dull.

Honda really need to get back to some individual styling as their range has mostly been cripplingly dull for the past 20 years.

One of my favourite SUV designs. It has a bit of a high, light, minimalistic vibe about it and I like it...

Social Justice Warrior Blue and Karen Pink, the latter usually featuring on an undercut bob type affair.

Back to the Shed - reminds me of a jacked up Honda Aerodeck. It will make a good tip run car for somebody not looking to get to the dump in any haste.

I’m sure the tv ad (or maybe magazine) showed young people with surfboards or mountain bikes and a carefree demeanour? You can’t choose who your cars will appeal to, and whilst much effort is put into carefully targeting a certain market, it’s anything but certain. Anyway good shed, and my belief is that if you’re buying anything cheap and old it needs to be Honda or Toyota, as most of it will still work.

Has it had a new bumper? Or does the plastic just not fade in the same way?

Most Honda's of this age in that exact colour will have mismatched colours like that. Must be to do with the materials.
I went to see a CRV in the same colour and assumed it had been in a knock and resprayed, but it was just due to age. Looks odd

Prefer the look of the 5-door.

Back in the early 90's the average age of Honda buyers was about 45 and this was reflected in the low insurance groups for their cars. I went from a 205 GTI to a CRX and was shocked as to how much cheaper it was to run. Apart from being better built it was just a better car overall.
