I'm a big fan of Kia however at this point in the market I suspect they have misjudged the British mindset. Badge is everything, content is secondary.
The U.K. market will only ever be a tiny one. In reality this car is for China, the rest of the Far East and the US. If they wanted to crack Europe etc they would have been better off buying an existing company. I’m sure Tata would have sold them Jaguar

I suspect depreciation will be cliff like. A 3 year old for sub £20k might be worth it.
I’m in at this price point !
i cant see them selling any at this price point in a uk market that is so brand concious, they may shift some demo's for 40k

Inifintiy is way better known in the UK than Genesis and the UK market really worked out well for them lol

Lexus still doesnt have the same brand cache as the german cars and they spent a long time selling better products at lower prices to get established

I suspect these promo shots are of a US market car hence the chrome wheels. If they did an appearance package suited to more refined tastes I think it would work quite nicely. ie smaller wheels in matte alloy / grey / black finish. De chromed window trims / grille etc.

very rough edit...

as others said, this is strong money for a kia, but about average for the class of car. It will be a tough sell in the UK as the buyers of this sort of car want the badge first, then looks second, dealer experience third, reliability last.

It will make a fantastic used purchase after 3 yrs if any get sold new. Depreciation will be steep, and I suspect new discounts will be plentiful. I would buy a 3 yr old one (with warranty remaining) for £35k over a 5 yr old X5 / Discovery / GLE etc with no warranty for £35k

Hardly good promotion when it basically says "it's good, but its rivals are better" is it.... hehe

That's hardly surprising, given that Infiniti had a few years of sales here, whereas Genesis haven't yet put anything up for sale, and don't have any dealers here yet.

You might as well say that Genesis is a better known brand here than Fribbletonki, who I just made up.

I think one of Lexus's main issues over the years is not doing diesel (I think) but yes, THE main issue is probably that it isn't German, which is daft when you consider Japanese quality is almost certainly better. I haven't driven a new Lexus but my LS460 is now 14 years old and despite being a complex car it's still l reliable, unlike the 7 series I had before which was newer, relatively speaking.

If you really want a 7 seat Korean SUV with no badge - just buy a SSSSSsangyong Rexton for half the price of this Genesis.

Screams "America" and as such i think will be too big, overstated and blingy for the UK market at that price point. If it was £200k it would probably sell better....

I may be wrong though and i think it looks good from the front especially.

Front good. But as it goes back it starts to lose style. The rear needs to be beefier, squarer, more Range Rover like.
Bizarre - I think the exact opposite! Front looks a bit Citroen Berlingo, back looks all square and sharp. Overall, not a bad effort though I reckon.

This place fascinates me. At the time of writing, a story about a new niche model of a niche model BMW gets nearly 80 comments. The story about a new brand launching* barely 30.

* I know it's not really a new brand launching, but you get the point.

I think it looks alright, enough of an imposing appearance with some bling/chinz without being too over-the-top. I like Bentley-esque quilted leather. Good that it's a different option to the usual players, plus the focus being more towards comfort as opposed to sporting pretentions sounds appealing.

Not something I'd want to spend my own money on new but as others have said, at the right price it could be an interested used bargain at a few years old.

I think this looks much better than the saloon. I actually quite like it.

Not being a fan of large SUVs, I have to admit this looks quite nice. Perhaps it's just an illusion from the side window line, but it manages to look long rather than just tall - reminds me a bit of the original Cadillac SRX in terms of its length/height ratio.

Amazingly enough, Genesis have actually been selling cars here since 2015, we just didn't notice! I was astonished when someone posted on the other thread that they'd bought a G80 new back then, never knew they were sold here.

How is it a knock off when the same person designed both cars?! LOL

Also, Chinese? You may want to take some primary school geography lessons.
That’s why I said like a Chinese… like! My geography is fine unlike your grasp of phrasing. One assumes Bentley budget is higher allowing designer free choice as opposed to limitations on this!

Why would it be a limitation? There is no doubt that China will be the main market for this outside of Korea and then possibly the US next down on the list, It will be designed for local tastes. The UK market for this car is totally insignificant as they know they will sell 5
