Great video and great car. I understand your ethos. I have ordered and am going to build a GD T70 next yeart which is a kit car homage to a Lola T70 CanAm car. I’m going to try and build it in an ‘in period’ style but it will be made out of new bits.
I’m not chasing horsepower but will want the engine to sound and feel as close to a V8 race engine as I can within the confines of road legal.
I’m not chasing lap times but will try and build as close to a 1965 race car as current regs allow.
I understand where you are coming from. Can’t afford or don’t want the responsibility of an original and so build a car that tries to capture the essence of it.
Won’t suit everyone but if you are building or commissioning it yourself you can do what you want.
Your car looks fantastic and sounds great.
I hope that mine ends up half as good.

A proper enthusiast, a proper car, some serious good taste - and what a noise. This car is wonderful.

Having been there and done that I can thoroughly recommend it.
Mine made an easy 480-500bhp on a demon 4 barrel carbon with a simple msd ignition kit. (LS6 build)
Dry sump whatever you build if you are doing trackdays or sprints, GD sell all the kit ready to bolt on.
At some point next I'd love one of the Lister Bell cars as Craig has absolutely nailed the fit/finish and handling.

That's lovely, though it sounds LOUD laugh

Really enjoy these videos. Probably the best content PH is producing currently.

What a lovely thing and great 3 car garage! I feel the same as the owner with being a big petrolhead, loving cars, engines, noise, driving etc but have almost zero mechanical skills myself! And if I did try some home spannering I’m sure I’d be highly frustrated and have a car that no longer works when I’m finished laugh
I’m with him with noise and theatre though, the biggest things that put a smile on my face, even if it’s just something passing by that sounds wonderful.

Fantastic car, Jim. You created the car you wanted with a soul. Surely that’s all us petrolheads really desire. And great content, Pistonheads. A great viewing on a Sunday morning lying in bed. Thank you.

Of course Ferrari now makes the V6 in the 296GTB which would be great in a Lister Bell.

Having previously daydreamed (on many occasions) about getting a Lister Bell STR I pondered on whether I'd go for a LHD for authenticity... but then why not have a RHD for convenience in the UK? It's not that I'd be claiming that I had an original Strato's.

LHD might be better bearing in mind how offset the pedals were on the original (would it be better to be offset to the right in a LHD or to the left on a RHD car? I can't decide) - but that depends on whether LB have been able to reduce the impact of the wheel arch on the available space in the footwell

(BTW I have no problem with LHD cars, I've owned multiple Integrales and an 8.32 in the UK.)

LB also offer a flappy paddle operated gearbox... but that might be straying just a bit too far from the original smile

They're most definitely not a dog to drive. Everyone that comes for a ride in mine remarks on how good the ride is, and it has quite easily shown a clean set of heals to many more expensive performance cars both on and off the track. And the noise is something else!!
