<Joke>
M division has their second bespoke model and its this! Just brilliant! I can't wait to see the CSL version! Out with the rear seats and in with a roll cage!
</Joke>
Actually, now I think about it, the entire ultra high performance SUV segment is a joke.

Hmm, according to the industry types here on PH I thought car manufacturers had stopped development of internal combustion engines?
I believe that the EU has decided to ban the sale of ICEs by 2035 (in line with the EU net-zero wishes by 2050, with cars having an average lifespan of 15 years), so there will still be plenty of development until a couple of years before then.Who knows, they might find a good solution to the pollution/sustainability by then, and we could be saved from being forced to drive EVs?
I think building heavy SUVs won't be the way forward, though.
A vehicle that embodies the opposite of the 'simplify, then add lightness' philosophy. I'm sure the M division engineers are proud of how they've mitigated the problems created by 3-tonne kerb weight and the ride height of a school bus, but I bet they'd have been happier not crippling themselves from the outset with those disadvantages. I like a practical SUV as much as the next person, but this whole vehicle segment just needs to be nuked from space.
I also don't really understand the marketing strategy. BMW is touting it as the 'first bespoke M car since the M1', but it's clearly designed to compete with the Urus and other horrible status barges, the owners of which won't give a stuff about (or even have heard of) M division. So why sacrifice the brand? Just call it the X8 M Competition tart's handbag edition and I'm sure it'll still sell like hot cakes.
You can tell the reviewer pretty much hated it but had to keep mashing away at the keyboard to make the word count.

Do people who are the target market for this not care about how it looks at all ?.
If that is the answer what was the question?
Does it have even matter. Some people, want, appreciate something different. Not necessarily pretty, bold and brutal can be interesting. If that is the answer what was the question?
I remember seeing the Ford Scorpio at the Motorshow in the mid 80’s. I thought it was hideous… a bloke peered inside and said that’s real luxury that.
Build it and they will come….
How is it different to the 1000 identical massive grim SUVs launched in the last 12 seconds? Only thing I can think of is it’s slightly more pointlessly massive.
I call this sort of car "rapper tat" it'll be bought by an upcoming star who'll feature it in a couple of videos. In 5 or 6 or years on its 5th owner it'll get launched into a tree. Ed Bolian\Hoodie\ at al will then buy it for peanuts and find a badly stashed crack pipe under the back seat.
