RE: Lexus GS F | Spotted

Key to this offering is reliability. Something seemingly alien to its rivals. Would make the Lexus ownership prospect enjoyable instead of wallet melting.
Indeed, especially once out of warranty as the majority of the German cars are and things start breaking on them. The repair costs become fairly ridiculous. The GS F is in essence a spirital successor to the E39 M5, sans the vanos issues of course.

UK and their crazy cheap used cars.
These are still very expensive in the US...although I wonder if current gas prices will suppress values somewhat....
For some reason (well I'm sure most of us know why), here in the UK we have never really taken to Lexus like the US where they're a genuine alternative to the German rivals, which is reflected in their availability and used car values. These are still very expensive in the US...although I wonder if current gas prices will suppress values somewhat....

UGLY as sin
A real gopper, especially that mismatched front end.
Performance wise it was quite far behind it's german rivals, but atleast the engine/transmission combo is well proven to be durable and trouble free. No problems with carbon build up since it's direct and port injection too.
I’m now into my sixth year of “F” ownership, and it’s been faultless.
2 1/2 years with an ISF and now 3 1/2 with a GSF.
Both serviced to the manufacturers recommended schedules, both have needed front brake pads, but that’s it.
Nothing has gone wrong, nothing has been replaced.
Utterly reliable, bank vault build quality, quick enough, and a brilliant engine. They are great cars.
The e-class and M5 that preceded them were good cars, but we’re never away from the dealers service dept with issues.
The GSF is the longest I’ve kept a daily, purely because I’m struggling to decide on a replacement, I have a M3 touring on order, but I’m in 2 minds if it’ll stay and I’ll keep the GSF, I like it that much.

A relative bargain and one which is unlikely to break and give a large bill.
And this is the Lexus' not-so-secret weapon. How many stories have we all heard of an RS6, E63 or M5 throwing someone an unexpected bill in excess of £10,000? Those sort of horror stories are almost unknown with the ISF (even at this vintage) and I'd expect the GS F to be similarly robust.
If I had the money, I'd be extremely tempted to buy one and rebadge it with items from a GS300h, including the "HYBRID" badges.

My last car was a GS450h 2013 model.Good family car and with the V6 engine quick for its size at 5 point something to sixty.
Would love one of these, nice indicator of current daft prices too given over the past 4.5+ years the depreciation seems to have been negligible from the last time PH spotted a GS F

As a F owner (ISF) I can honestly say the ISF and possibly GSF is one of those cars you grow with over time and discover its personality and quirks. Ive owned and experienced the usual german rivals but for me the reliability and Lexus service standards exceed that of the Germans.
Although on paper the stats aren't great, in the real world its more than enough power, its a special car and off course as we all know these N/A monsters are a dieing breed.

True but they sold less than 100 of these, so not many to go around.https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

I think it’s not even that many - only 55-60 were sold in the UK.I’ve had mine for 4.5 years, after around 3 years in an ISF. The GSF is a bit more grown up and is just as happy dawdling about in town, as it is driving for fun, as it is on a full track day. Yes, the German equivalents of the time were a little quicker (0-60 in ~4.3s and 0-100 in ~9.7s), but I felt they lacked character.
The radio/sat nav gets a slating. It’s not got CarPlay, but all the features are there.
Best car I’ve ever owned and the dealers are faultless too.

Always had a stellar dealer experience, unlike BMW, and Mercedes especially, where their sales manager tried to convince me their gearboxes don't have gaskets and thus fluid can't leak out after a service I had done with them. Later discovered they had fitted the gasket improperly hence said leak.I’ve had mine for 4.5 years, after around 3 years in an ISF. Hoping to swap out the LS for a GS F next year.
