23” wheels are madness. Our GLS came specced with them due to the infinite wisdom and Mercedes UK’s marketing office. Ruin ride, excessive tyre wear and recently no stocks of replacement tyres

No SUV needs them other than to fill arches, ludicrous
I couldn't agree more.

Gorgeous car - just wish that JLR could build them better.

I like it, shame most of them will be configured in tedious drug dealer 'blacked out' spec. I'd happily have one in that nice metallic red, sensible sized silver wheels and matching trim.

Looks amazing.
Agreed. By far the best looking SUV/jeep for sale.

They really don't need to be that reliable when they look that good and are so nice to drive. RR know this!

The press release is barely hot off the press and it's being written off in terms of reliability already.

How about we give it a chance and see how it fares?

Is it me or does it look smaller booted than the old car. Less rear overhang by the looks of it. Maybe just photographs that way on big wheels?
Somehow they have made it look more like an evoque. Shorter, stubbier, more cab forward.

I still really like them though! getmecoat
nobs?
I think he meant knobs.

Its a fantastic bit of kit but certainly has a reputation of being driven by utter bellends, especially second hand ones. Guy on my street has a red and black modded one with gold wheels, biggest tool around.

The buyer demographic on PH will be different than the general buying public as we tend to buy cars for different reasons, performanc, handling and road holding, engineering etc. That's not how Joe public buy theirs.

I was wondering that too. Shame that the otherwise excellent review didn't give more details of capacity (and a proper pic of the dash).

On the former point, and at the risk of sounding a bit tedious, for those of us who actually need a 4x4 SUV, boot size and shape is really important.

It's one reason I keep coming back to RR products over their rivals. A reliable German alternative that can't handle my dogs, camping gear and family is pretty much pointless for me.

BTW I have a L320 3.6 TDV8 and bar a few squeaky bushings, it's been faultless. It's Bali blue so I must look a proper nob in it too.

I enjoyed driving my Dad's 2006 model RRS, and as the article mentioned the seats in it were lovely. He's had it since 2012 and he has stuck with it warts and all.

RR aren't daft, and they have the image and looks absolutely nailed on for sure. Both me and my missus love the things, but we aren't quite brave enough to dip our toes in though.

Maybe one day.

And the same boring comments on alleged lack of reliability from people who never owned a Range Rover.
I’m on my sixth and none have left me on the side of the road and I do drive long distances!
Even my original Defender doesn’t break down.
How can someone say they are badly built? I’m pretty sure they are better built than a TVR (I like TVR’s btw).
You must be the luckiest man alive since they are always at the bottom of every reliability table I’ve seen…

Appreciate what you are saying, but if one was actually looking to buy one now, you don't really have a chance to see how it fares ?

Personally, unless I had to do serious off-roading, much as I love the style of this and most of the RR range, I would still be very nervous about buying one of their products over a German car at the same price point. Yes I know some people have had great, pain free times with their Range Rovers but the bigger surveys and stats really don't reflect well on them.

Interesting table, presume it is pa? So the industry average is two faults (still too high) and LR is three. Not enough to worry me.

I think some people need some perspective. If a potential buyer lives by graphs such as the one shown already, Volvo are barely any better and yet their products aren't derided like JLR products are.

Comparing vehicles built on an ultra-modern assembly line with limited run sports cars glued together with chewing gum and optimism (as delightful as they were) isn't a fantastic yardstick though, is it?
No it isn’t, I agree.
The point I was trying to make though is that whenever there’s an article on certain brands the same comments are made on poor reliability of cars they never owned.
Exactly
Always the same people or person saying the same thing.

I’ve had 6 JRL products and no worse than Audi/Mercedes/BMW really

I suppose they are improving. The 2021 is even worse !

Still, random poster above had no issues with a sample of 3 cars owned so I guess they must be fine really.. rofl

That looks fantastic. Particularly like the rear numberplate being beneath the tailgate - I think that makes the rear look much cleaner.
