Great shedding. Smoke it for a year and you'd still get your money back. The V8's were 260bhp IIRC?
Not over powered for a 1.8t when Audi was giving 225 for the same CC's but nonetheless an easy driving load lugger. Well done you. And condolences to Mrs shed re the heater, awful really awful...

They werent exactly "gutless", just not massively fast then, and especially now. My uncle had one from new and it went well enough, my dad and uncle bought a ropey one to trade on and that one wasnt very fast. Sometimes its not all just about numbers and beating a Golf R from the lights. The reviews were very positive as a car, it wasnt a real M5 competitor by any means.

The 260 was meant to be the entry model to the V8 ZT, with varying power outputs up to 500 or so bhp, but as we know that never happened, though there were a couple of pre production 385 ones I think and various supercharged conversions which go well.

Great shed, as others have posted the 1.8t replaced the 2.0 V6, it was done for emissions and tax reasons, the 2.5 V6 carried on.

Looks a good car for the money. These old Rovers get unfairly slated but are a far better car than the equivalent old Ford or Vauxhall.
The K series engine once the head gasket has been replaced with a MLS gasket and the plastic head dowels replaced with steel ones don't give any more trouble.

My ex had one for a few years (ZT-T 190). Quite enjoyed driving it, but the performance was disappointing given the noise and fuel consumption.

My Dad had the diesel one of these in a lovely metallic grey and it was absolutely brilliant, I would borrow it all the time.

That’s an interesting car bit more fun with it being rear wheel drive V8 manual, just needs a supercharger to give it a bit more go!

Great Shed. These are definitely getting better with age and I think the pre-facelift front end looks beefier.

Shed says everyone would spew bile over this shed and I don't think I've seen anyone call it a crap shed yet.

Until now. I kid. I'm not into Rover or MG's but I'd run this no problem. Looks solid, looks like someone cared for it pretty well. Could get a good few years out of that.

This era of big car was not kind to the v6. Anemic, thirsty, and tax heavy, I don't know why so many manufacturers bothered when turbo was already commonplace. (I know this car isn't a v6, but just my musing as it was mentioned in the article)
