I've owned E38's and love them. This would not be exempt from the various pitfalls of custodianship- cooling system, suspension components, but above all the dreaded fuel tank rust.
I love this, but love it at 35k.
The fuel tank rust isn't that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things. It's what, maybe £1500 to fix? Hardly a major issue in my opinion.I love this, but love it at 35k.
Fuel tank out is quite a major job as it’s a saddle bag tank and there will invariably be brake lines, fuel lines, hydraulic lines to do ‘while you’re in there’ so a 3/4/5k bill could well result.
I’m not pulling those figures out of a hat - I’ve had all that work and more done on my E38.
And comes from the infamous Prince Jefri as well.....now there's a name! Google him if you're unaware of his rather 'excessive' lifestyle.
For those not in the know:
Had two pleasure yachts named 'T1ts One' and 'T1ts Two' with the launches 'Nipples One' and 'Nipples Two'
While I didn't see it myself I have it on good authority that at the bottom of one of the London residences was a walled gazeebo containing a multi person jacuzzi. The domed roof contained illustrations (from a famous artist) in the style of the Sistine Chapel and featured all the world leaders of the time (Mitterand, Thatcher etc) 'doing each other'.
As you can tell he liked carnal activities!

Very very nice ! Was a 7 series used in the first transporter ? I’m sure they are in a few films. One of the best looking beemers for sure.
Was behind a b10 Alpina on the motorway yesterday and that also had a nice presence about it, followed by an original shape quattroporte - both I feel are probably a lot of car for the money these days and pretty understated.

I couldn't agree more, just shows how bad they really are. This E38 on the other hand is pure elegance.Lovely. looks like new in the pictures, although sadly they (first owner) did not opted for the sport seats.

The only odd thing about the B12 is that Alpina didn’t use a bespoke speedo. They usually do, and my understanding is the B12’s top speed was 173mph, which means you’re going to run out of numbers on the Autobahn.
seems strange, every B12 I've seen online has the ALPINA written in the dash cluster, see this example what I mean from another e38 B12 Alpina.![](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/44/0a/57/440a57e883217c749c99a9d368e84865.jpg)
