I've owned E38's and love them. This would not be exempt from the various pitfalls of custodianship- cooling system, suspension components, but above all the dreaded fuel tank rust.

I love this, but love it at 35k.
The fuel tank rust isn't that big of an issue in the grand scheme of things. It's what, maybe £1500 to fix? Hardly a major issue in my opinion.
E38’s do suffer with other rust underneath too - and the V12’s and lwb cars have a 95litre tank (as opposed to the 85 of the rest of the range) that isn’t available as a pattern part.

Fuel tank out is quite a major job as it’s a saddle bag tank and there will invariably be brake lines, fuel lines, hydraulic lines to do ‘while you’re in there’ so a 3/4/5k bill could well result.

I’m not pulling those figures out of a hat - I’ve had all that work and more done on my E38.

That rear end shot is appalling!! More badges than blue Peter, and the gold coach lines made a bit of sick come up...De badge it, knock £20k off and it'd be a great buy for some MD who goes to continent on regular occasions.

Fabulous in every way this. Re the styling details: it is of it's time.

Best looking 7 for sure the E38.

Dare I say it given these silly times I thought it would be more. Not saying I think it's worth it, just I thought the price would be more.

And comes from the infamous Prince Jefri as well.....now there's a name! Google him if you're unaware of his rather 'excessive' lifestyle.
For those not in the know:
Had two pleasure yachts named 'T1ts One' and 'T1ts Two' with the launches 'Nipples One' and 'Nipples Two'
While I didn't see it myself I have it on good authority that at the bottom of one of the London residences was a walled gazeebo containing a multi person jacuzzi. The domed roof contained illustrations (from a famous artist) in the style of the Sistine Chapel and featured all the world leaders of the time (Mitterand, Thatcher etc) 'doing each other'.
As you can tell he liked carnal activities!

Utterly awesome. I’d love even just a framed picture of that, let alone actually have the real thing.

I would accept it just as it is : totally period . What a car ! Peak BMW taken a step further by the experts . To my eyes I can’t see a better looking BMW than this . Would that I had the necessary space and spare funds to own it .

I couldn't agree more, just shows how bad they really are. This E38 on the other hand is pure elegance.

Very very nice ! Was a 7 series used in the first transporter ? I’m sure they are in a few films. One of the best looking beemers for sure.

Was behind a b10 Alpina on the motorway yesterday and that also had a nice presence about it, followed by an original shape quattroporte - both I feel are probably a lot of car for the money these days and pretty understated.

Indeed, although I prefer the latest E38 (different front lights and nicer screen on the inside). I think the current 3/5 series are good looking cars, but just about everything else is not great. I don't think the M3/4 looks as bad in the metal, I quite like it, although I do prefer every M3 before it.

Oh yes, indeed. The E38 will define the kind of person you are by some kind of cool osmosis, whereas this modern monstrosity is just an ugly blob that does nothing for anybody.

Lovely. looks like new in the pictures, although sadly they (first owner) did not opted for the sport seats.

The only odd thing about the B12 is that Alpina didn’t use a bespoke speedo. They usually do, and my understanding is the B12’s top speed was 173mph, which means you’re going to run out of numbers on the Autobahn.
seems strange, every B12 I've seen online has the ALPINA written in the dash cluster, see this example what I mean from another e38 B12 Alpina.
