As a landrover nut I think it's fantastic. Pity it's not affordable to mere mortals. About the same price as my house!

As ever, they are worth what people are prepared to pay.

If JLR can clear around 4-5 million quid profit on the 30 of them that is good news yes ?

The creative and media team must be bigger than the production team.

It's the modern way. Contrived exclusivity and a tenuous backstory.

I appreciate that it’s not meant to be a recreation of Wilk’s car but I think it would look so much better with Galvanized bumpers and a canvas roof!

Jim Ratcliffe has already been on the INEOS configurator since seeing these pictures to find out how much like one of these he can make Grenadier. The authentic Isle of Wight edition featuring repurposed unsold Belstaff jacket trim.

Heritage blah blah tweed blah Islay Woollen Mill blah reg no on the side blah blah walnut whisky cask ffs blah blah blah…

Can imagine certain readers of Country Life spaffing all over a lifestyle feature on this total pretentious heap. Can just imagine someone wearing a suit that matches his car seats and thinking it’s a good look, what what? Makes me cringe so hard I’ve got cramp. Tbf it’s given me a laugh as well though so fair do’s.

….and he will have a wry smile on his face as he thinks “and some commentators said my Ineos was overpriced ! “. Up in Thirsk at Twisted, Mr.Fawcett will also be smiling as he muses “ we will do one for £10,000 less.”

The interior will clash with the pink/red cords. Then again may be that's the point...

Isn't it great that Land Rover are celebrating the history of Land Rover by simultaneously releasing this and then stting on it by saying Land Rover is no longer relevant and dropping the name. Bonkers.
They're not dropping the name though.

If they sell them, then clearly it is and, given the success of previous Works Defenders, I suspect they will sell all of them.

While it seems incredulous that people will buy these at that price, we have to consider that for many of those with that kind of wealth, £230k is pocket change.

There are many out there who will never get close to spending their amassed wealth even if they buy all 30 of these. For them this is simply a fun purchase. There is a Collector I know in Belgium who buys cars like this and see's them only on his very rare visits; they go straight into his collection where a full-time mechanic/caretaker looks after them in a vast garage tucked away beneath his two tennis courts.

I rather like that colour and the tweed interior. Engine seems like overkill for a shed but hey ho.
Got to be worth £20,000 all day long I would say.

That's not what all the news stories last week stated...

E. G car wow.

"The firm formerly known as Jaguar Land Rover has rebranded simply as ‘JLR’ and will focus on two brands and two nameplates in its new five-year strategy."

"Gone is the Land Rover name in any standalone capacity, with the company saying it will instead focus on Range Rover and Jaguar, as well as the Defender and Discovery names, under a new ‘house of brands’ strategy."

“We love Land Rover, but there isn’t as much equity as Range Rover” said JLR’s chief creative officer, Gerry McGovern.

The news stories were rather blown out of proportion in reality. They clarified and said that they will still be using the Land Rover branding.

=pointless.
LR exist to make money. If they sell these then they will make a profit, people will be employed, taxes paid etc, so not pointless. People will pay far more to be able to look at some canvas, paint & wood.

The price shocks me, I'd find it difficult to pay that for any car, let alone an old Landy (I had a V8 110 CSW years ago, so I do like them), but I'm not the 'incredibly well heeled market' they're looking to sell to.

thumbup

I'm guessing someone in their PR team was on the end of a stand meeting without coffee given every news outlet reported the same story.
