RE: Jaguar XJS 4.0 | Spotted

I like that a lot. Appreciate some details won't be for everyone but I think that works really well overall. The colour is gorgeous.
I agree it does seem like a lot of chassis work for not a lot of extra power but I like it's been done that way, you've be able to hustle it along quite nicely and it'd make a wonderful noise as you did.
Part of me would be tempted to buy it, enjoy it for a summer then drop the engine out for something a little spicier, say a chevy V8. Would suit the overall look of the car and with the original engine seemingly in good condition you could always keep it in storage and put it back if needed.

I love the late XJS models.
But they have ruined this.
Naff wheels, horrible headlights and an un-necessary spoiler.
This for me and therefore overpriced ...But they have ruined this.

Great cars for comfortable and quiet cruising and MPG can be kept above 20 on a run.
Mines an earlier facelift with chrome bumpers which is what I always wanted - the 4.0 litre six is a great engine that suits the car well.
Saw this for sale at a different dealer at one of their meets earlier this year. Looks lovely in the flesh. Was the highlight of the meet for me, even posted it in my readers ride thread on here. I think the price has come down a bit too. I could be wrong but want to say it was up for £26-27k then.
I had thought it had been built by the dealer who are in the business of restomodding old Land / Range Rovers.

Getting into Aston Martin DB7 money for that.
All the DB7s I've looked at for that sort of money are pretty ropey. This is the sort of car one could really enjoy getting along to some meets, continue the modification to suit your own tastes, but starting with something that is in superb condition (I saw it when it was at Kingsleys, the finish really is remarkable)
Its a Celebration, so one of the more desirable XJSs, though of course the originality has gone.
With regards to the XJ-S reverse tardis effect, my dad owned a 1967 S-Type 3.8 MOD. His wedding gift to us was to drive us from the ceremony to the restaurant in it. However, the bloody thing wouldn’t start, so he turned up in his XJ-S HE. My new wife in her lovely wedding dress was not best pleased when she had to fold herself in and out of the back seat of that.

If you want an XJS theres a lot worse to buy, a few grand on top would easily right the wrongs too.
