RE: OMG: Zagato takes the Alpine A110 to new lengths
Discussion
The original: take a lightweight, stripped-to-the-bone racer and add aerodynamic appendages to make it faster and more stable in a straight line, for the specific purpose of one particular track (Le Mans).
The new: take a road car (albeit a relatively light and small one) with all modern driver conveniences and safety features and add aerodynamic appendages to make it...umm... longer. Oh, and more profitable.
Compare the images below to see how the delicacy of the original allowed it to work, aesthetically, whereas the the new one looks forced, dumpy and contrived - like it's trying too hard.
I'm not saying I don't like it, but if I owned one I fear it would exist almost always in kurzheck configuration for ease of parking. Therefore I wouldn't bother and just buy a standard A110 instead, which I think look excellent.

Turning an excellent modern car into a look alike 959. What were they thinking.
The older versions in the photos look distinctive but also brilliant.
Zagato seem to have a real problem make the rear of their designs as good as the rest of it, apart from the Aston Zagato shooting brake.

I like that at lot. Wonderful homage to the long tail racers. It'd be a b*gger to park though.
Nah, measure the space and if it doesn't fit, take the tail off, park and then.....ummm.....put it on the roof? For a homage, I'm obviously against the majority here but I think it looks good. However, a) I'm not in the market, b) couldn't afford it and c) our views don't matter. They'll sell them to people who like them and can afford them.
