I'm really liking that and would love to have that to replace my daily.

Especially in estate form.

Cars like this used to make excellent used purchases in 5+ years time when they've done the heaviest depreciation.. I'm not sure I'd want to own something with this much technology out of warranty.
Indeed so. Back in the good old days when money was tight it was never a concern to buy an older 5 Series or E-Class from a maintenance or repair aspect. The only criteria was the condition and spec of the car.

Absolutely. The last few cars I've got rid of were all due to electrical gremlins - the oily bits these days seem to be pretty fool proof imho. The onward march to more (or only) electrics does seem to jar with my own experiences. Shame as otherwise this does seem like a likeable motor - not too bland or shouty.

I’m trying to find redeeming features with this, but simply can’t. I get some will love it, the brand, hybrid tech, big performance and so on …. , but it’s not for me.
Not really a Merc fan but this does have some r seeming features. It's a straight 6, which is good. No turbos, which is great.
No turbos? It is a biturbo.
NA engines are dead.
Renault / Dacia still do HEVs and PHEVs with an N/A engine.

And somewhat at the other end of the scale so does Lamborghini with the Revuelto.

I'm told this will be starting at £110k. In line with the old E63 of course, and that's fine given the output. But what do we think the new E63 will cost? £140k?

I believe the new M5 Touring will have over 750hp and cost £150k. Who the hell is buying performance estate cars at £150,000?

The M5 Touring looks like it might be a bit special (apart from the weight but BMW's have always been heavy) - much want for it.

On the E53 - I actually quite like the look of it - inside and out. And the E-only range looks fantastic for pootling about town wise - its a pretty compelling package.

I had a cla recently as a hire car, never considered myself a Mercedes person but it was really nice.

My PHEV XC60 is a lovely thing - if they’ve integrated that power train half as well it would be bloody marvellous as an estate family wagon…

Fake vents. I'm with Harry Metcalfe on this. Unnecessary and pointless. If you have to pretend something, what else are you being duplicitous about?

The car lacks authenticity to me. A sports saloon should never be this heavy. It's not ugly, the tech is impressive, but it flatters to deceive. I'll take my fast saloons in sub-1800kg guise, thanks, with no fake anything.

There is literally nothing nice about this car. What a total filth bag. If you are going to buy one, I'd get yourself to Specsavers first.

Audi is having no trouble shifting RS6s at 120k plus a few options.

With this baby version doing 0-60 in 3.7 seconds in estate guise, how on earth are they going to get a noticeable jump out of the E63.

Would make a lovely daily for me in estate trim. I like the looks, 90% of my journeys would be electric only with a proper engine for the long slogs, plenty quick enough, I wonder if it can be optioned with a tow bar as full EV’s have a diabolical range if towing.

Glad I’m not the only one. As tasteful as Dubai.

Maybe I’ve spent too much time in Germany, but being in a Merc - any Merc - just feels like sitting in a taxi.

Good grief. That interior reminds me of the night time amusement part scenes in the Lost Boys movie. Is this really what people want from their ‘executive expresses’ these days.

Makes me pine for a W124 500E. Wasn’t that long ago that Mercedes offered a ‘business executive’ version of the E63 that made it look like a standard model, how things have changed…

No one really. The fabricated RRP numbers have never really been less relevant. It's what the various monthly agreements offer that are pertinent. Not many have £150k sitting around but ask how many have a couple of grand a month of excess income and the answer is more than enough for it to be worth building the cars.

About 2.5m households in the U.K. earn in excess of £100k/annum. Over 350k individuals earn in excess of £150k/annum.

Consider that many of these higher income households will have cleared mortgages, filled pensions and have children out of education and that's quite a large group to sell into.
