That is magnificent, especially considering their recent track record.

The headrests

It looks good, but I’m not sure what all of the excitement is about - this is clearly just the existing 8 Series with a fancier body. Even the interior layout is identical, previous gen iDrive and all.

If this makes ‘production’, it’ll be in the form of a silly money low volume production run (a bit like that Z4 Coupe thing from last year that didn’t go anywhere). A good way for BMW to extract every last penny of profit out of this platform before it goes extinct

Why does everything modern need to be in-your-face? The current trend for aggressive styling is way out of hand, not to mention fk ugly.

This is about as elegant as a large luxury car can get these days, I think it looks mega.

Looks aged already, like it was the concept car that became the last generation 6 Series.

Roof has to be two simple old style targa pieces what can be removed manually.

Isn't that the "BMW cycle" of the last 25 years.

Build a generation of cars that are clearly BMWs, but also handsome and well proportioned. Journos (kids who think everything should have the visual pop of a Lambo) winge about "boring," "samey," etc.

Tespond by getting in new designers, give them a free rein and they produce something outre. Cue shouts of "ugly" from Joe Public and diplomatic press terms such as "visually challenging."

Repeat.

(BMW seem bad for this; they're not able to reinvent themselves whilst clearly remaining themselves. Maybe they just need to stick to working the staid-but-masculine elegance angle.)

Moving away from the beaver grille is a triumph in itself. Would suit an electric powerplant but suspect they'll keep flogging the ICE

That's very smart. Finally some elegance returns to BMW styling.

It will look nicer on the roads like the Z4 does. I think there's just so many new cars out now (new Chinese EVs are being born every day) that it's hard for a brand to be classic and new at the same time. Although I think Volvo managed it quite well with the XC90 and EX90.

I meant the coupe one rather than that monstrosity. Didn't even realise they'd made one after that.

Such a beautiful clean design. Shark nose is beautful nod to old school 6 series.
