TVR was named after a guy called TreVoR Wilkinson.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this may not quite be a "did you know" fact for a forum of car nuts which was originally started for TVR owners!

The engine in the Mclaren F1 is a distant cousin of the one found in the BMW 850CSi:

S70 5576 ccm 380 hp, 24V, 850CSi 1992
S70/1 about 6000 ccm 550 hp, 48V(?), M8 prototype 1990
S70/2 6064 ccm 627 hp, 48V, McLaren F1 1993

The MG SV used Fiat Punto front light clusters
The Noble M12 used Mk.1 Mondeo rear light clusters
The TVR Griffith used upside down Mk.3 Cavalier rear light clusters
The TVR S used late model Sierra rear light clusters
The TVR Wedges / Lotus Excel(?) used Rover SD1 light clusters

hmmm.... apparently light clusters are expensive to design and build!

The BMW logo came from BMW's historical past where they used to make propeller engines for war planes, the white represents clouds, the blue for the sky, the lines between represent the propeller and the circle for the shape made when the blades are turning.

you never seem to hear in these type of explanations, that it's also because sky blue and white are the bavarian colours, as in the middle of the coat of arms of bavaria and on practically everything else in bavaria

Here is another MG ZT 260 one:

During developement of the car, MG Rover was, as we all know a bit short of cash. So they couldn't afford all the fancy computer simulations and modelling that the big manufacturers would carry out even before construction of a prototype.

When the engineers were setting up the rear suspension, they found that under hard acceleration the car was suffering from severe axle tramp but were not sure what was causing it.

To cure the problem, they bolted some chains to a big wall, then to the car, then one engineer got in and gave it some welly, whilst another one lay underneath the car to see where all the axle tramp was comming from. Problem solved.thumbup

British budget engineering at its best!

I hope it's a true story, I read it somewhere on the web a while ago.

The MG ZT 260 has no ashtray in the front, as once they'd shoehorned in the engine and gearbox, there wasn't any room left for it

There is, however, one in the back, so that's handy if your little darlings like a quick smoke then.

Perhaps for the post coital cigarette.

Do you mind! The eldest is only 4! laugh
