Beefmeister: I have nothing but respect for your reports and always read them with interest.
However, it appears you have lost the plot on this one a little.
Read your gushing report on the interior again.
Now take another look at it.
It is a very ordinary Audi interior. At best average but arguably bland. I would just about be content to see that in an s4.
Theres nothing actually wrong with it, but to gush about it is a little OTT don't you think?
The thing is, the photos do it no justice at all. I think you have to be a fan of the german interiors, but to me it really is a fantastic place to sit.

Go find one, and sit in it for a few minutes. I personally like good ergonomics, and this ticks all the boxes.

I'm not really a fan of the F430 interior, its passion over function in my eyes.

I admit, the R8 interior looks much better with extended coloured leather - the brown or red leather for instance.

But as I said, go sit in one and you may change your opinion.

Your write ups are great and really bring alive the sense of occasion you gain from each car. Its a shame that Evo don't employ you like some of the contributors they have. That guy who used to have the M3 and then the 997 really was the most boring contributor to a magazine I have ever read. Bleated on about stuff that was nothing to do with the car and never once gave an impression of what they were like to live with.

Hi Mr B. My comments in support of blindswelledrat were based on having sat in and indeed driven the car. Must pull you up on one thing - the F430's interior is as you rightly say full of passion but live with one and (maybe suprisingly I agree!) you discover that the driving position and ergonomics are absolutely spot on too. With the exception maybe of the window switches sited on the dash which always irritate me. I repeat that Audi could have made the interior more of an 'event' for no extra cost. Same with the engine bay - why anyone would pay extra for the engine bay lights is beyond me. IMO of course! Keep the reports coming matey!

I thought his reports were brilliant! Really gave an accurate impression of what owning cars like ClioV6, M3, BoxsterS, 997S and AMV8 is like over the long term. Fantastic writing skills projecting great sense of humour along with great modesty regarding his own god like driving skills. Warts and all write ups of troublesome early days with his AMV8 were a real eye opener! EVO hasn't been the same since he left and I hope he's gone on to greater - and richly deserved - new things.wink

That car and a few guys from E25 are right outside my office now... Must say they do look a lot better in the flesh.. The car looks great from behind..

Not sure how well it will age.. All those slats are a bit too fussy... And the general 'i-robot' type shape..

Would have one ahead of the baby Aston though..

Great words and pics. Nice one. I found the R8 a bit visually challenging initially, but given the right colour choice it could be a stunner.

One question: I know it's not the first consideration in a car like the R8, but how did you find the visibility when in town / reversing etc? Just wonder if those side panels might restrict the view where there would normally be glass.

No, No - really I'm just a completely unbiased reader who thinks the guy was a writing and driving god. Stunningly goodlooking too and loved by woman, children and animals, tirelessly working for world peace I just wish I could be like him.

No he was just an idiot full of his own self importance who clearly did not have the first idea about how to convey the ownership of certain cars across to his readers. Amongst my circle of friends we used to laugh at what crap could he come up with next.....how big was the ashtray? waiting for the postman while his car sat on the drive? whether the next day would end in a 'y'?

Depends how big the stomachs of the two people forming the circle are and in which formation they are trting to form said circle.

P.S. I heard he was all these things but to compensate for his god like driving skills and how people all loved him, they took away his ability to love back and so in turn his love turned to cars and so did his sexual desires.

Front and rear look good, rear very old school Ferrari in a way, like the stance, interior a bit boring but sure it will be lovely. The real disappointing bit is the side on view, that is pretty awful the great expanse of silver. Can this be specced out? Although the way it crosses and intercepts the line of the rear bumper will colour coding it make a difference?
