Brilliant review.
I just wish Ford would get themselves sorted out, and get the cars built and delivered. I can't wait any longer!!!

I'm suposed to be getting a lend of one for a few days but i'm not holding my breath just now.
To all you slaters that over the past few months have ridiculed the rs with out even driving it,i am biased to the focus range but even so i have poured over road tests on tv and mags.....they all love it,rated top by most against its opposition, living in essex(ford land) i have seen a few test rs's,they sound awesome, popping and chaffing(wastegate chatter)....well done ford for bringing us a car that looks good, sounds good, can take your family as a normal focus but also doubles up as a very fast road car,to all us geniune petrolheads thats great....all for £25,000..sounds dear at first but there are not many NEW cars that can compete with it for its all round abiltys, top gear mag tested it with a "normal driver" against the stig in a ford gt,the rs easily kept up with the gt on all the twisty bits...with only long straights that the gt pulled away(500+bhp it should!!)
long live the rs....it might be the last for quite a while........

What slaters? No-one on this thread has been anything but complementary about it except with respect to things which are clearly personal preference. I also hope they are enjoying their humble pie
I knew it'd be a cracker from the start.

Out of interest, does anyone know if it would be possible to make a spec-D type car? I know that the wider track would cause problems, but could the rest of the body-kit be replaced with standard focus parts?
Why not just transplant the RS engine and suspension into a standard focus.Would you actually do this though? I very muuch doubt it.

I'm sure there will be RS body kits going onto 1.4 Zetecs within six months, I just want to do the opposite.
Although to be honest, whilst it looks good value new, I suspect it'll hold into its value too well second-hand for me to ever bother with one. If it holds its value as well as the mk1, a four-year-old RS will be competing with four-year-old M3s.

kambites I share your views - I even mentioned my desire for a spec-d version myslef in an earlier thread. Not only do I feel that the looks are about 15-20% over the top, I reckon it would attract the wrong sort of attention like nothing else. I wouldn't dare leave it parked on a city centre street at night, that's for sure.
