XFR beating a superbike? Methinks not....unless the rider is just having a gentle ride around and riding normally.

If he is trying for a fast getaway (as described in the RRS) the bike would be off like a shot, if they were both to leave the lights normally the bike would still win IMO.
Call me boss eyed, but I think that's what the story said....

That’s XFR territory and, to be honest, we’d rather buy an XFR, and beat the superbike away from the lights, rather than just give it a nasty fright
I'm referring to the XFR not the RRS. Riggers usually sits next to me, but he is on holiday today so I can't argue with him about it hehe
Ah...sorry

As I said...call me boss eyed...nuts

The XFR might have a chance if the man on the bike was pulling away in sixth gear lol

Also encouraging the consumers of these type of vehicles to launch 2.5 tonnes of chelsea tractor away from lights is also beyond me. When selecting a car what criteria do people generally use as I cannot see that this satisfys any of them
It's well gangsta, innit.

You are mainly right, but, to drive one is to love them. It's perhaps the nicest driving environment currently available.

Does the new RR Sport still come equiped with lots of Argos gold jewellery, a Pitbull and a council estate bred 50 year old botoxed and bleached blonde in the passenger seat ?

You have to pay extra for that.

They come with a Stephen Ireland as standard...

Still twice the time of your boggo superbike. So not sure they're going to be that worried. Probably more surprised that someone driving a £70k car is acting like a 17 year old.
True, but I suspect anyone can get close to that time with traction control, a torque converter and four wheel drive. Wouldn't you have to be a pretty skilled rider to get close to the manufacturer's claimed time on the bike?

I agree (in controlled private locations) I have managed to out Gun bikes of under 700cc. Not straight from launch but once in 3rd I pulled past. I run 340bhp on a 1100kg car and I'm crap at launching. I think bikers find it hard to launch but thats just my opinion and I always got the thumb up from the Biker :-).

Bad analogy using a ‘super bike’. Maybe good at scaring some chav in his pimped up ride or a lighter ‘fast car’ but a modern litre bike or most other bikes and there’d be no contest. Litre bike 0-60 depends on rider weight and skill but around 3 seconds could be achieved with not loosing much for someone heavier or less experienced-all about keeping the front wheel down!

It wont scare suprebike riders, its pedestrians that should be worried, a clueless ratty WAG with getting on for three tonnes of vehicle with 500 odd bhp negotiating a snarled up town centre whilst trying to talk into a mobile and drink mineral water like the women I see at my kids school who all have them.

The fact it's less green and more stupid than the previous makes me hate this vehicle slightly less than before.

Er yes Riggers: you'll find it might just get a bit more mobile if you remember to slap it into Drive before you leer too hard at the bike rider.

Range Rovers are horrible things.

More to the point have Pistonheads realised that we have a new BRITISH F1 World Champion???

Since when are RRs more impotant than that?!

What a ridiculous article all round.

As if any bike rider would give a flying about a Range Rover? They are not likely to pick up on the nuances of difference between high 5s and low 7s to 60. At the end of the day the Rangie will be a small disappearing spot in a vibrating mirror partly obliterated by their elbows.

New or old, supercharged ot not, it makes no difference. How about a decent article based on the merits of the Rangie rather than a childish reference to the traffic light grand prix?

Edit to add: I notice the article also refers to buying an XFR in order to 'actually beat superbike riders'. A quick google reveals 0-60 in 4.7 or 4.9 whichever review you happen to believe. Either way any middleweight naked 600 would show it a clean pair of heels, let alone a superbike.

I think there's a few threads running on that very subject, one of which I present right here.

Thanks Luke, 122 Pages on Gassing Station shows the interest that the readers of this site have in Jenson becoming F1 World Champion. I'm more than a little surprised that it doesnt warrant a mention before a report on a ghastly waste of space such as a RR Sport (even if it does have a nice engine) !!

Can't stand these things either - dubious pimp/drug dealer image too I think, people are getting wiser to those storming around in pointless gas guzzlers like this (I'm not a greeny btw).

So sick of seeing mummy dropping off their single child outside the school near here as I walk past every morning in her stupid great RR Sport. Pointless in every way other than status symbol of 'I'm a tosser and don't care about anyone else'

Ahhh.....that's better.
