When it votes for you automatically is it doing this in the forums (with the news story and vote above) or in the news story (eg linked from the homepage)?

We have tested this across all our browsers here and just can't get it to replicate the issue you are seeing, so trying to get some ideas to narrow this problem down.

Just looked on news site (thought the PH ometer was for all posts silly

The Mistsubishi article came up with a new screen which I could vote on, and did.
Theother articles were a mixture of "already voted (which I hadn't)" or no sign of the PH ometer.

I seem to have rated some articles i haven't even read!

Methinks a little bit of testing before trumpeting this one would have been advisable rolleyes

It's been tested thoroughly and has been running on just the news stories for weeks without a hitch, it has only gone mental once we added it to the forums! Are you sure you didn't vote on those stories via the homepage when they were first up a couple of weeks ago? your votes are not all "5" like the others who have been affected.

We are working to diagnose the problem, but we still can't make it do it at this end!

Careful, with postal voting your can't guarantee that your vote will not be tampered with...

I might be wrong ...... but I think these problems are a manifestation of bad design. The first time I tried to rate I (naturally enough!) clicked on the "Rate it" button .... and I automatically got a score of 5. I am presuming that you have to slide the "rate ometer" to the value you want and THEN click the Rate it button?

Or am I just being thick?

It does seem that some people are doing what you did first time above and thus we will look into improving that. We have been running this over news items for the last month with no reported problems so naturally thought any issues would have been highlighted in that period then.

We try to make PH a little different to other car news sites so like to do little fun things across the site. Obviously we missed the mark with this implementation.

It seems to be so that other people can look at your profile to see what you think about forum topics.

Is the idea to get us to post less, and just vote instead? hehe

So in order to view my ratings, I have to use the search members function to lookup myself? That's the only way I can see what I've rated. Most bizarre.

It would more sense If you could click a link in the topic to see who has voted for it rather than having to check individual profiles to see what they have voted for, no?

I didn't get the option to vote. It just said I'd already give it a five.

Click your login name next to one of your posts, or at the top right of each page on the "Big Blue" skin and you can jump straight to your profile that way.

Are you clicking "Rate It" before you have moved the slider, or is the slider never appearing?
