I kind of like it, i'd never have one but I think it appeals to that inner 11 year old that would doodle the ultimate "do all" car during a maths lesson. Shame it doesn't really translate into the real world

I love it.

I love the fact that they can build it. I love the fact that it exists.

We should respect everyones freedom to have one of these if they want one, without criticism IMO.

With over-regulation and the nanny state seemingly just around the corner, this car is a definitive "up yours" to the government and the eco-fascists.

For that reason alone I think it should be welcomed.

if i wasn't poor id have one (for the wife wink)

Whoever came up with the design for that car, sat back in their chair, picked up the coffee and thought.... yes.. now that is just what I wanted the car to look like.... SHOULD BE SACKED!!!!

Or,

Perhaps, that design was really nice and on route to the approval meeting the design was put through a shredder by mistake and the peson who shredded it tried to stick it back together than report his mishap, thus leaving us with the X6M....

Which ever way.. it burns my eyes and anyone whos buys one should rethink their lives! smile

I saw something worse looking than an X6 last night and that was an AC Schnitzer X6. The body kit was enormous and it just looked laughably ugly. The rear profile simply does not work on any version in my opinion.

I don't particularly like any of the Xs (I do like BMW however) but understand why people would buy an X5. The X6 serves no purpose other than to prove that you can afford one and to see over the car that is setting off the (necessary) front parking sensors at 90 MPH on a wet motorway. Money simply does not buy class in this instance.

I cannot help trying to get a glimpse of the under-confident, fat, sweaty tosser sat inside that feels that such a car completes their life. I have yet to see one do the "over the shoulder check my car the look around for appreciation move"as they lock it up (probably on double yellows) and walk into a sock shop.

I cannot think of another car that says more about its driver.

I was sitting behind one of these behemouths in Sicily last week.... black and monstrous. Had Mafia written all over it in the sense that it was sooo anti social and anti establishment... the philistines' delight. And for that I take my hat off to the Germs. Keep riding roughshod over the eco friendly prim manifestos.

The sort of people who will actually buy this car are tasteless, money'd morons who think that because they have money they are always right.

There are plenty of such people about so good on BMW for marketing a car for them, but still....

Completely agree. I welcome anything that will keep BMW independant and able to produce more cars like the M3, Z4 M Coupe(e86), M5 and M6. I whole heartedly applaud them and hope it sells in droves. Would I buy one? No. Would the misses have one? No!! She`s dangerous enough in a 206!!

It's a bling wagon as BMW don't have anything for the school run arms race. The X5 looks cheap compared to a Cayenne or a Rangey Sports so this is their slice of the vacuous blond mummy cake.

Of course, it will still kill more children in accidents, have more rear-enders due to lack of vision through the car to the road ahead and roll over when tickled on the side but marketing and stupidity to yummy mummies will overcome the reality.

I reckon you'll see a few of these driving around East London soon, with blacked out windows, hiding short occupants, all with the same haircut...

The perfect car for the perfect stereo type.

Confessional.

I hate most 4x4's apart from things like the G wagon and Defender and this would be the thing I most detest most from every angle. However, one drove past my house the other day and it was either black or dark grey and it did rather have the Mad Max about it. In dark it is quite menacing. Good for getting cars out of the way on the motorway I guess.

Still gave it only a 4 though.

Erm, well, wheels look terrible and it's a terrible colour so they couldnt have made it look worse if they tried.

I like the idea behind it, the kind of 2 fingers to the green element too.

Wouldn't have one. I'd take the X5M instead tongue out

I saw a non M version of the X6 in the M&S car park yesterday (see, I'm not *that* poor or simply jealous wink )

Non-metallic white with the snowflake wheels, parked in a disabled bay with no blue badge

I'm not one for hating other vehicles, I love the simplicity of something like a Caterham with lower power, lighter weight, but I can even appreciate the "ps off the hippies" style of a normal Range Rover. The X6 is a car with the sole purpose of someone saying to the world "Look; I have so much money I can afford to waste it on an ugly, pointless car like this"

There's something very vulgar about that, it's the kind of car Michael Carroll would buy...

When I saw the X6 in pictures I thought yea this looks good. But whenI saw it on the road, I thought WTF, it looks awkward and a lil bit ugly. Suprised as most cars when seen in the flesh look better, but this did not.
It looked way to over pumped on steriods. What was wrong with the x5 for them to think of them to bring out the x6, the x5 is perfect. The rear of it looks like a rhino on steriods. The proportions just dont look right.
All the examples I have seen, seem to be driven by the drug dealer type looking shifty person, maybe they are lawyers, lol.

This should be max power car of the year.

Abolutely not my cup of tea, but I am glad that at the moment we still live in an automotive World which is allowed to build cars like this. I am more worried about the kind of people who would buy it. Much like Prostitution exists but I pity the saddo's who have to pay for sex.

I am picturing in my mind someone who would actually buy one of these X6's, not just an M version. And my Profiler brain is thinking 40-50, works in I.T., has a little paunchy beer belly and dates on the internet.

I think alot of these negative views stem from people who have not travelled a great deal. It will sell in bucket loads in Saudi in White, in Switzerland in Black and there will be countless Harman/KArdmann/Bodykit and remap modded ones in London. That said I kind of like it. As an M5 Owner. Would I replace mine with it, no. But if I lived in a country where conditions are often less than perfect and I still need swift transport that can be used everyday I would consider it. Looks are subject to opinion but I hate the RR Sport and would never consider owning one, yet I am only mildly confused by the X6M.

All the negative reports by uber greenies and 'purist' motoring journalists won't stop this car selling in droves. It might not sell that well in Europe due to costs but expect this car to be all over Beverly Hills, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The Cayenne and Bentley GT is a fairly (ish) rare sight here but in Abu Dhabi there are two on every street. This X6 M and similar X5 M will share the same success as the Porsche and Bentley abroad.

As I pointed out on the "Best GT car to go round the world", this might be a reasonable blueprint but you wouldn't want it for anything else and have people stare at you and look accusingly at you for the sheer ludicrous size and self-agrandisement. Might just as well buy a Dodge Ram V10 and to hell with it.
