love it, want

how much is it?
Think the projected price is £30,000, NOT the £45,000 that the Telegraph were suggesting.
Grinnall Scorpions are a bit over £20,000.
ta

ok may have changed mind!

I can't decide if it's very lovely or a bit weird. Currently leaning towards the latter, think it's just a little too try-hard.

Love it love it love it. If only it cost £5,000 instead of 10 times that.

The Grinnall is a fine machine but it resembles the Morgan in only one aspect, ie the number of wheels. The comparison is false. Anyone in the market for a Harley motorcycle probably wouldn't be weighing it up against a BMW, and vice versa. Apples and oranges really. Plus there's a huge difference in heritage. The specification and historically-inspired interior detailing of the Morgan is spot on IMO.

Erm, sorry to tell you, chaps, but Grinnall have been making the Scorpion III since 1993, a modern take on the Morgan, and you can now get one with the 160bhp BMW engine in it.

Unless you have to have a three-wheeler with a Morgan badge on it, I'd have a look at one of them.

I have one, and I wouldn't sell it to buy a Morgan.
Conversely there are many who wouldn't consider a Grinnal but would buy a Morgan (me included) so everyone is happy smile

Also I think the Harley engine is a good choice, much more in keeping with the character of the old JAP engine than a modern Japanese unit would be.

Yes, I agree it's a good choice of engine appearance wise, similarly the Moto Guzzi on some of the other kits. I do like the interior of the Morgan, but the Scorp is just a blast out with the jet-wash to clean.

I would have thought that a Moto Guzzi 1200 would be good. It's already orientated properly, and it blends a bit of modern tech with old-school character. Importantly, it also looks nice.

But there is no real legitimate reason not to like the Harley.

Though I suppose an 1800cc Harley engine isn't going to be as 'clean' as the mill in the Cygnet.
No, but will sound a lot better.

Carfolio - torque and rpm. The Harley lump has a lot more torque (and a lot lower down) than a typical Jap V-twin. Which will be of real benefit to the driveability of the machine - ask anyone with a BEC!

How does that get round the safety regs and being hit square by a Harley engine?

I think that the Grinnall is a better bet not least as it has two seats.

I think the Grinnall now comes with 4 wheels too.

"Bomb Release" style start button, can we get a picture? I'm interested!

yes

I'm guessing either the 'flick up the guard and press' type that some car manufacturer nicked from (e.g.) an RAF Tornado, or a flat button on top of something, e.g. the gearstick.

Ah yes but the curved fallaway sofa back doesn't look comfortable. Bench seat?

Why not a screaming Jap engine instead of a Harley lump though?
I suppose the Harley lump has more torque than direct BHP and its the torque that will help the 0 - 60 dash - I do think 4.5 secs is a bit optomistic however

None the less brilliant lick
