Motoring highs and lows of 2010 - what were yours?

High:
A lovely drive from Kassel to Dortmund along the A44.
I cruised easily in light traffic at 120 - 140 mph,
peaking at 150 mph (GPS verified). Not bad for a
ten year old car.
Low:
The radiator finally packing up. Not that much
aggro however, as I was close to home and the
rescue folks attended in less than 40 minutes.

Not being at home for most of December for work, (due to car not working early starts, stayed at mums)

Bought a different car, collect in new year, unsure on it but bought it anyway, hoping alls good!
If not ill be introducing myself to bangernomics for considerable future.

- Passing my test
- Tinkering with the Astra, only basic stuff but still feels good!
Lows:
- Spinning into central res. earlier this month. Nothing I could've done, and thankfully the damage wasn't too severe, but still a pisser. Makes me want some skid pan training.
- Petrol costs.

high point was buying the lotus elise 111s and driving flat out accross the strood to mersea island with the roof down for the first time.
Low point saying goodbye to my old car and having to drive a 1.3 hyundai getz for a month while this snow is around is awfu;, oh and having a bee hit me in the eye while driving with the roof down was savage oh and the ear ringing from the sports exhaust lol.

Highs - driving round New Zealand in an old Nissan Sunny, then doing it again in a Datsun Vanette which also became my home. Best driving roads I've ever found and I've proved t myself beyond any doubt you can have fun whatever you drive. Managed to own a selection of interesting cars
Lows - never had enough to buy a Ford Falcon V8. that's pretty much it

lows, dip in the road with a huge brick, me hitting the brick causing my front bumper to crack, punching a hole through my alloy, destroying my tyre, and damageing the caliper which needed to be replaced, just over a grand to repair at the same time my insurance and tax was due.

Highs: Hexham to Jedburgh, then north through some little hill roads and home again. Hexham to Alston and back was another good one, but not as good as the Jedburgh trip. Both involved clear roads with excellent sightlines right through the corners and beyond, and plenty of good places to overtake slower cars. Getting my first years NCB and saving more than £1 for every day I drove safely was a good feeling. If only the costs kept coming down like that, I'd get my insurance for free in less than two years!
Lows: My insurance still cost over £600 on a 1.3L Fiesta. A split manifold seal that caused my coolant to dribble away annoyed me too. I got the Haynes out but it looked far too involved and when I actually sourced the exact spot of the leak I knew it beyond my spannering ability. Off to the garage it went!
