The green cross code was banned by Liebour due to the fact that the person teaching it could be sued if someone got hurt or killed following it.

So nobody is aware that cars kill if you walk in front of them, yet reducing speed will help? Ignorant, moronic, half baked, egotistical bds.

The last useless shower of st that went by the name of liebour.

Remove the training and you get what we have now, the same goes for the cycling proficiency test that we had when young, that has also gone due to H&S and the sue me culture.

Last summer I witnessed some chav in lewisham walk across the road expecting traffic to stop only he met a car that didn't, sent him into the pavement then carried on driving. I noted the registration but didn't bother sticking around as imo he should know who has right of way.

What I can't bear is women pushing pushchairs half into the road before looking. You can spot the retards a mile off.

This!

It's like they're using the pram to sort of test the water, see if anyone's noticed them and is going to stop.
To be fair, they've usually got at least four replacements, with another on the way. So if you do hit the buggy they won't lose that much child support.

I drove into Guildford this afternoon. As I approached the one way system from the station road, a load of lookalike skool kids all just walked out in front - they knew I was approaching but just walked out anyhow. If it weren't for the paperwork on a company car and the tedium of cleaning bits of ipod and cheap clothing off the bonnet I would have kept going.

do a lot of running about to and from work late at the weekends so am well accustomed to pissed crowds stepping out in front of me. still winds me up every time though!

had one guy stop in the middle of the road obviously expecting me to stop so he could look cool in front of his mates. not being in the mood i dropped a gear and carried on, thinking he might shift, but no. ended up speeding up towards him and slamming on the brakes at the last minute. big van + no abs = screeching to a halt and one pissed idiot diving off the road and landing in a heap at his mates feet. cue lots of people pointing and laughing at the numpty lying in a dirty puddle.

stupid on my part yes, but cant see him doing it again. result.

They believe that cars will simply stop for them, it's just plain ignorance - I wonder if any of these people have ever driven?

Worst I had was a teenager on a bike who cycled out of a T junction, onto the wrong side of the road and into my path all without looking up from his phone. I'd only had the car a couple of days and couldn't find the horn quick enough. He saw the car at the last second and swerved onto the pavement.

I couldn't get angry though - I did some inexcusably stupid stuff when I was a kid.

Not this stupid though hehe

If he knew they had seen him (rather than a kid chasing a ball)

A mate used to continue driving at the same speed on the basis that it was their decision that he valued their life more than they did.

Several ended up clipped by wing mirrors a couple went onto the bonnet.

I don't suppose any will do it again.

Luckily none were seriously hurt and he never was contacted by the police.

be careful driving up to people crossing the road without looking. I did it once - admittedly very slowly, but I had assumed he would have crossed by the time I got to him. I was on my way to work at 7 in the morning.

The pissed up 19 year old smackhead jumped on my bonnet, then caved in my wing with his foot, then tried to climb in the car through the 2" gap in the window so he could attack me.

I drove off and called the Police from round the corner. They arrived, arrested him, he spent a day in the cells and then when he woke up "had no recollection".

6 months later I saw him in court, I'm sure the £250 he had to pay me back for my excess really made him learn his lesson. The remainder of the £600 worth of damage to my car was paid from my insurance, and my no claims bonus suffered.

So now I won't drive too close to people crossing the road without looking - as my wife put it at the time, I could have been a headline "father of 4 stabbed on the way to work".

What I like to do is press the clutch, and then rev the engine really hard, wakes 'em up quick enough. hehe

I have noticed this appears to be worse with ‘chavs’ and drunk individuals or people who just don’t give a fk. Never had an incident to date with a suit or other respectable individual of society.

What do you guys usually do? Continue at normal speed or accelerate up to the speed limit? Brake?
No of course not, that is the behaviour of the chav.

If I see someone wanting to cross a road, I'll very often let them cross at virtually no cost in any way in any form to me or anyone else. It's the proper thing to do.

I have similar experiences quite often. I'll wave people across when it's safe to do so, not that it ever results in thanks... Loose groups, or clouds, of young chavs hoping to saunter across in front of me giving it billy big potatoes don't get avoided in any meaningful sense, I like to think that the momentary terror of a car that's not stopping might educate them as to future endeavours.

On the way to the Halloween hoon in Bristol though I had to a proper emergency stop for a tt of a runner. Lights were green for all directions apart from turning right (I was going straight on). Noticed a couple of bikes looking like they would cross and briefly sounded the horn (Aware, see...) and then the runner was straight out in front of me at 20mph. "Red light" he yelled! It's one of my abiding regrets that I didn't follow the dhead and gently persuade him of the error of his ways.

1st of January. At the 9th sec. Who did it wrong? Pretty busy junction at the capital. The woman was in hoodie and crossed the road from behind the two waiting cars. I guess the truck's driver had no chance to avoid. Or did he do the mistake by using relatively high speed at a junction? I guess, both.

Definitely a bit of both, although I would be interested to know if it was a "proper" crossing or simply the markings on every junction. Clearly the pedestrian had a bit of a stomp on... I always look continuously at Zebra crossings because I've nearly been taken out more than once.

It's a proper one, only thing is that the traffic lights -as You can spot- are flashing yellow and the pedestrian lights are not working during the night, so You have to drive as the traffic signs show You to do.

So, during the night it's like a simple zebra crossing, marked, but no lights. (which is stupid)
