The driver only suffered cuts and bruises and he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, impressive. I thought that was going to be serious injury or fatality looking at the picture.

I was interested by the reporters comment on the stone fragment through the front window being the obvious indicator of the cars speed, rather than the car having flown 42 feet through the air before crashing into the 2nd floor of a house.

Actually, it proves that there is one feature of PDK that's world leading.

I find it funny that he is being charged with driving through a stop sign. One would assume thats the sign he hit and scrapped on his way to his meeting with the porch.

I expected far more damage to the house.

I remember on one of those police investigation type shows that one means they can use to determine speed before impact it to closely examine the speedo face as sometimes the speedo needle can hit the face of the dial and leave a mark.

Half an hour before, he was, at the point where the car left the road 80mph+

He was actually lucky he hit the house. Had he not crossed the centerline he would have definitely introduced himself to a rather large oak tree instead.

As sad as it is to say...but looking at the picture of this car and also the accident of the 911 / Golf in the Gumball and of course numerous other incidents, the 911 are remarkable for strength (survivability) for such a small car with these high impact speeds and forces in collisions.

Amatuer effort.

This is much more like crashing into a second storey...

I saw the aftermath. He just had to be trying to kill himself, which he managed.

Yup - saw the wreck after this one too - scary stuff.

We had a talk given by the accident investigation officer on this one - IIRC from what he said the length of the skidmarks suggested he'd been doing a speed of around 108mph when he saw the roundabout. His lad survived as he was wearing a seatbelt, but I think he said the driver wasn't wearing one.

Hardly anyone in the US seems to wear them.

They get the speed from the sirbag ECU - records the last 10 seconds. Someone got done in the UK not too long ago on that evidence (Jag crash on the A14).
