OP I've got to ask, did you do any research on these vehicles before signing on the line or did you just buy a car, hope all would be ok and only now ask the questions most people do before buying!!?

Reminds me of the time I went to buy a BMW M5. Was looking forward to over 500bhp and 0-60 in 5 seconds.

Was only when I got home I noticed it was actually a 518i from 1994. Still, it only cost me £1000.

You decided you needed a car with a high horse power figure, that was a diesel. You spent your full budget after ignoring advice in your other threads.

You posted moaning the car wheelspins when you accelerate.

You now are moaning that the engine is somehow wrong confused

You might be a bit dim.

HTH.

i dont mean the engine is wrong, i thought it was CR as it has the same bhp and litre engine

im now wondering if theres any difference in reliability or anything between the 2

i dont think its a pd, its the 170bhp model
It will be a PD, the CR did not get used in Seat/Skoda until 09 I think.

Looks like this is the thread for me.

I need to find a 200mpg 800bhp roadster with 4 seats and a boot big enough for a pram (for twins), convertible of course, but with a solid roof that folds away into nothing, so that the boot is still spacious. AWD is preferred.

Budget is £100 to £14million if that helps.

I need Group 1 insurance, or at least my limit is £50 per year for Fully Comp and zero excess.

I had an 06 140bhp A3 Tdi which is basically the same engine as this I think. I ran it as a company car from 8,000 - 99,000 miles and it was the least reliable car I have ever had.

It ate its gearbox at about 61k (just outside warranty) and the head failed at about 75k (a common problem with the 2.0tdi VAg diesels I understand). It also ate the gasket to the EGR valve on 2 spearate occasions, and the passenger airbag and yaw sensors both failed. To top it all, the paintpeeled off the underside behind the front wheels at about 3 years old. Fortunately for me it was a lease car and I dodn't have to pick up the bills btu i wouldn't buy one.

Power delivery was dreadful (and the 170bhp is even more peaky)but probably delivered a real world 40-45mpg I guess so when I was driving it I was saving money. Problem was, more often than not, I was in a Nissan Note or some other hire car while the Audi was being fixed.

German reliability see?
