Inconsiderate Neighbours
Discussion
Thanks for all the comments.
I appreciate that she may have a lot to do but she is already reversing the car into the space so an extra couple of feet shouldn't be difficult bearing in mind the width of space is twice the size of the car and it has sensors on the back to tell when she is getting close to the garage door!! How long would that take - a couple of seconds! I manage to do it with my car when I consider my immediate neighbours acceess. They have stated that they need access to the garage but they have a side door and I have not seen them use the garage door in the last 2 weeks - they could move the car if/when they needed to use it!!
I have only just moved into the house and his car was never present when I viewed it and looked at it from the outside - I wonder why this was!!
I am moving towards putting something to restrict his access and I like the idea of something less obvious as a post. However it needs to be fixed as I am sure that he will just move it.
I have asked him to park my car when all are present and he is reluctant to do this for "insurance" reasons - I agree it is she who is the problem not him. (By the way one of the children is called Oliver!!!) That is also why I may move to making her access move difficult then she may appreciate why I feel like I do.
I feel that I am being reasonable but I am annoyed that after being nice and finding a resolution that would be OK with all she is still ignoring this. I feel that some physical obstruction needs to be implemented to get the message across.
I appreciate that others may have issues that appear greater than mine but this is bothering me so it is important.

There's no easy way around this. At the end of the day, you're going to fall out with the inconsiderate bh. So get it over with.
I'd definately put a nice heavy post in, but I'd check with my solicitor that it didn't contravine any covenants first.
Or, I'd park my car as to inconvenience her, and I'd keep doing it untill she said something. Then I'd tell her I'll park more considerately, when you do the same. What goes around comes around.
Neighbours are a pain in the arse. Next house I buy will be at the top of a fecking mountain!
I have some German neighbours here in Mallorca, who we got along with nicely when we first bought our villa 5 years ago.
We have a right of way past their property which is supposed to be 3 meters wide.
To cut a long tale short, we had a bit of a chat with them over a hedge which they'd planted, and was resricting my access by nearly a meter, and made it almost imossible to pass with my Navara.
The cheeky bd told me I should buy a smaller car! And, that I should take some of the land from the adjacent vacant plot, which belongs to neither of us!
Anyway, I said I cut it short. I had to go away for work for a few days, and when I returned, they'd built the Berlin wall where the hedge was!
Three years later, I'm still waiting for a court date.

I'm in kind of a similar situation to the OP, where there are too many cars for the number of spaces available and I often have to make to with parking on a sort of "visitors" parking space which is big enough for two cars easily. This was fine, I would always have a space on there, and I would always leave plenty of room for someone else if they wanted to park there.
However someone else has moved into one of the properties (which has a double garage with two spaces in front), and they have taken to parking across this double space which I try to park on (even when their own spaces are free ) To start with, this really pissed me off because it's just plain rude IMO, and when there was enough space to squeeze my car in I ended up getting several dents in the doors. Eventually I just thought "fk it" and if the old bint parked there like a then I'd park on the road. I actually realised that it's not worth arguing over something as petty as a parking space, it was a revelation!

It would take me less than three hours to knock that lot down with a sledgehammer!
Probably even less if it was Spanish builders who put it up...
The borders of the property are also within 2 cm of the town hall plans.
So best to get it done with the law on my side.
APITA, as I want to build a nice wall next to the vacant land, and pave the driveway. Hopefully we'll get a court date this year.
+ 1 for the OP buying a stter and leaving it parked inconveniently.
If they were considerate people, you wouldn't have the problem in the first place. So Man up and piss them off ASAP!

Hi
My partner will shortly be moving in with me so we will be parking one of our cars to make parking the second car very awkward - we are looking forward to getting the knock on the door when she starts to complain about how difficult it is to park her car - what goes around!
Thanks for all the suggestions.

her response...'Ive got 3 kids so I don't think normal rules apply to me'..there is so much of this in modern Britain, and I see examples every day..choices you make in life should not qualify you for special treatment..(whereas things that are inflicted upon you should..ie disability)..although I would interpret having children as a disability it technicaly isn't!!..if you can't cope you shouldn't have made the choices, it's nodody elses doing but their own..sickening that she sought to justify her and hubbies inconsiderate behaviour in this way..
MMM bonfires
every F****ker around here loves setting light to anything combustible at the first sign of a dry day.
Not to far away a bloke had a nice little fire in his garden at the side of his house, all went well till the fence caught light, the other side of the fence....
a 1500litre heating oil tank! that went up just lovely damaging the neighbors house, cracking the foundation and causing ground contamination..
The insurance payout will be a biggie! with the specialised waste companies, builders etc etc getting involved...
As for the OP
get a snotter and park so as to make her sodding life awkward..
I personally would move without hesitation
neighbors can be great or wkers, sadly there is no choice in what you may get.

My old house was a victorian terrace and,as most people have more than one car per household, parking was a nightmare. By 6pm you couldn't get parked. We had a bit of a system where I parked mine in the gaps between each terraces and my neighbour would park her outside mine.
The guy nextdoor to her used to park his a couple of feet toward her house, laugh and then go inside. She or her husband wouldn't be able to get both their cars in the space left.
To resolve the situation I parked my Allroad an inch from his rear bumper and my M3 an inch from his front bumper - I got the train to work for a week. I ignored the door too!
4 weeks ago we moved into our new house with double garage and a drive for 3 and since have not stressed about coming home to have to park half a mile from my house!!
When you are dependant on peoples manners and consideration you'll never win!!
