Skoda fabia?

+1 for the Honda Jazz though - we've got one and I can't fault it - great little car with loads of space.

Have a look at the Peugeot 1007. Big sliding doors so no dinging others and easy to get in as you get older etc.

Low milage diesel

Automatic to save replacing clutches every six months biggrin

Thanks for all your input but the lady was not for turning and is now the proud owner of a bright red Fiat 500 Multijet. I have asked the dealer to make sure it has a safe cap thing in the fuel filler and a big "this runs on diesel dummy!" sticker so she doesn't put petrol on it.
