I had big velour armchairs. Always felt like I was hanging on to the big upright steering wheel. Maybe that's all it takes?

So... what cars are great cars...but also find favour with laydee owners?

We took a look at a '55-plate SLK 55 and an '07-plate 3.2 TT 'vert at the weekend.

Is there a holy grail in the £10-20k range though?

Difficult one V8...those two German offerings appear to be somewhat appealing to both.

No, I'm asking what car can she buy for herself which I can enjoy driving.

Have driven an SLK55 and it was a nice thing - turned in crisply and pedalled at a fair rate through the bends; it's very composed, rides well and has good balance - sounded rude too. The autobox didn't always respond to my manual inputs under braking and the ESP is never off so lurid slides are out of the question (if that's your thing) but it left enough of an impression to posess wantage, I think it's been tarred with the SLK brush and is very underrated

ETA: Quaife diff sounds promisig but would it integrate well with the nanny?

Yep, RS125. I have nothing else to compare it to but from 0% experience that I have I can say that it is bloody brilliant fun!

RS250 is currently my iphone screen saver hehe

The Semperits I had on the front of one of my Golf GTI's weren't too bad actually, not a Chinese Manufacturer but a subsiduary of Continental, they get most of Conti's old designs and compounds. Not quite up with a Michi, but certainly a step up from LingLongs.
It also depends what sizes the 'premium' brands have.

Trying to get tyres for my old E32 was a pain in the tits as no modern cars take a 205/55 R15.
