No idea despite the clear RED TRIANGLE badge saying 'ALVIS'? I despair, I really do!
it's about reading, not bearding! smile
Let me clarify,

I dont know which model or year its built etc. Yes I am aware its an Alvis.

Now you can despair some more
so not quite 'no idea'? Goodo.

ETA. I think it's a 12/50...

Looks like it could be a Bentley from the front, not sure what model, could be wrong though.

Sorry it is a Bentley and the words around the no1 were something to do with Alaskan run but cannot remember anymore.

Another shot of it here, on the 2009 Alaska run, still unsure which model though.

Edited to add, more searching, it seems to be a 1923 3/4 litre

Not sure what Italian export plates look like. This one?

Didn't see much else in Cannes although I didn't have a proper look, just happened to be passing this at the time.

some sort of special based on a 3 litre short chassis perhaps? There were so many specials built on Bentley chassis, it's nigh on impossible to identify one from a blurry shot from that distance. SNEAK MORE PICS!!!

Definitely that.

Edit, from the internet:

'Chassis 429 was included in the sale of the Clive Jones Collection of vehicles offered by Halls Auctioneers Shropshire England in 2002.

The auction catalogue read:

"Clive bought this 3 litre about 40 years ago looking very much as it does now (at time of auction in 2002). Registered in December 1923 as MB4483 (Cheshire) it carried tourer coachwork by William Arnold. According to Michael Hay in his book 'Bentley The Vintage Years' the car was rebuilt in 1951 on a 9' 9.5" wheelbase and fitted with a two seater body by Competition Cars of Nayland. At this time it was registered XMF 547 (London). From during the war to the late fifties it is thought to have been owned by C.L.Wills who refers to the fifties rebuild in 'Cars I Have Owned' (Motor Sport, February 1958). He mentions being 'lucky enough to get hold of a short-chassis frame' and the fitment of a 'C' box, 3.53 to 1 crown-wheel and pinion and other modifications. At some stage the car acquired SU 'sloper' carburetors and Clive obtained the registration # GX3993."'

For me, probably my best spot ever.

Mods, close the thread. We'll never top this.

Top work Alex, stunning shot. Any idea who the little dinghy in the background belongs to?
I have pictures of a garage with those two cars (well, same models) plus a Zonda, a special porsche (I know which one but not saying as it will be too obvious which owner it belongs too) and 300SL. However the owner asked me not to post. I guess there's others out there with similar.

oh dear, really?

Nasty plastic replica of a hot rod, attracts attention from people who know nothing about cars. Sad, imho.

Right, this is my second most exciting car spot, now ive seen veyrons, aguera R's zondas etc, but my first was an F1 on the M4, this is my second...

Ive been out for a friends birthday on southbank, we are in a taxi going home when my mate says thats a nice DB9, i look out the window to see a one77 going down the road, i jump out the taxi pull out my phone and run after the aston into a hotel carpark, one of the most beautiful things ive ever seen, subtle yet exotic.. lovely.. cost me a fiver in the taxi waiting..
