RE: Subaru BRZ vs Toyota GT86
Discussion
They first said that they would not run an advertising campaign for the car because they only wanted car enthusiasts to know about it,now 8 months after BUUM an advert in the tv,clearly it did not sell.
With that price and without a decent discount i don't expect they would do any better in the next months, even though the response to the car has been positive and the dealers are letting everyone having a test drive at full chat.

They are selling plenty, but only just being delivered now. With that price and without a decent discount i don't expect they would do any better in the next months, even though the response to the car has been positive and the dealers are letting everyone having a test drive at full chat.

The salesman told me that they only sold 2 for 8 months, both on order, and they would not get more than 5 till march, and all BRZ/GT86's ive seen around have been test cars, everyone says that would buy one second hand,17-18 k.Hoygo said:

They are selling well, all Toyota dealers are capped for 2012, and virtually all the dealers I have spoken to have sold at least half of this years supply. Most people have been waiting for dealer demos to arrive before commiting to order, so it's only in the past 4 weeks the majority of orders have been taken.

the cars have only just been released.. very few 12 plates out there other than a few lucky early deliveries and demo models.. which have also only been around for a few short weeks as far as i know.
plenty 62s incoming though for 1st sept it looks like, inc. for a few PHers

There are many on here blustering about how they wouldn't buy one at that price, but a lot go on to admit that they couldn't afford any car at that price anyway. There are also a number who have quietly gone and bought one with their own money and don't feel the need to jump on every thread, berating it for being too expensive.
There almost seems to be many PH'ers who are willing it to fail, whether because they are bitter because it wasn't £20k and 250PS, or because they hate RWD coupes, I don't know. It's a strange sentiment. Cars are expensive because the pound is weak. Once the Euro collapses and Germany goes back to the deutschemark, decent new cars will get even more expensive.
Had another look at one yesterday - a white one - at Whitehaven harbourside car show.
My little girl's legs are just too short for it!
What i mean is that when she sits in the back, they stick straight out. When they are a little longer, they will bend at the knee and so she will fit in the back. My boy is 9 and he fits OK.
So, I may be another looking to join the club in a couple of years when hopefully, according to the naysayers, hey will be ten a penny on the second hand market for 50p and a bag of grapes.

In the US, the Toyota version is sold as a Scion, the lower-end Toyota division aimed at younger people. According to US automotive media (I don't remember which publication), the Scion has softer front suspension than the Subaru, with the Subaru having a stiffer rear. I realize that these things may change from market to market, but it seems to match the author's statement that the Subaru had quicker turn-in with the Toyota having a tighter rear. Also, in the US, the Scion has a lower starting price, while the Subaru has more upmarket option packages or versions.

Evora: Same weight and hp, perhaps even the same size (didn't check).

sorry i'm a Honda fan, the Evora will never be as iconic as an NSX!
I'm an NSX fan too my friend, no worries and fully agreed ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
280 hp/ ~1350 kg in a mid-engine package sounded so familiar when I saw the Evora spec's for the first time
