No we didn't, the Opel GT wasn't sold here, just in Europe. The Vauxhall VX Lightning got as far as being a concept.
Oh, I thought they were VX220/Elise underneath. My bad.

I had a friend who works for a Vuaxhall dealer. At one point dealers were give the option to sell the Opel GT in left hand drive. I don't think any took it up.

I have an unhealthy obsession with the Chevy Suburban/Tahoe. They are massive, drink fuel like nobodies business and not particularly well built, but I want one, a proper right hand drive one (though I believe they are converted and sold RHD in Aus).

smile
Yes, I've seen a couple of RHD ones in Aus.

I also saw a RHD Caddy Escalade driving around The Rocks one evening.

We got the Mazda RX3 and RX4 which had petrol-engined equivalents. I suppose sales figures meant the RX5 never made it.

1972 Nissan 2000 GT-R

I used to see a few of these whilst living in Germany in the early 90's - Golf MK2 Cross Country

How about the Toyota Aurion?

Looks like a Lexus prototype. Where are these sold?
Australia's version of the Toyota Camry. Meaning it's very reliable, will last forever, and is crushingly boring.
yes I looked at one before I bought my Ford - terrible interior, not that fast but look 'ok' but so much more choice for the same money. Would be a good cheap 2nd hand buy though.

Fancy the same 300bhp s/c engine in a Hilux?

Various trips to the states a few years back, and I could never understand why this hadn't made it to the uk:

That was available over here on special order for a very short time, IIRC known as the Golf Synchro.

No picture as I'm doing this on my phone, but I wish Toyota had imported the Caldina.

I wish the Alfa 166 2.4 20 valve diesel had been imported into the UK, would make a cheap alternative to the big german barges that I'm forced to smoke about in and much more reliable and better on fuel than the 159 2.4.

Golf Syncro was sold in the UK rhd for at least a couple of years, 1989-91 possibly.
It had standard bodywork and suspension, unlike the Cross-Country, and 1.8 petrol engine.

I was also under the impression the Syncro was just a normal golf with AWD and not a Country. There was also a Country GTI smile

Bringing back an old thread, I hadn't realised that Toyota still sell a proper workhorse Land Cruiser in African, Asian and Australian markets with the 70 series.

Front and rear locking diffs and a 4.5 V8 diesel..

Doesnt look right without 30 "freedom fighters" hanging off it all with an ak47
