Oh, well I'll tell the wife when she moans about my 'hoarding'! ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)
I thought 'German Classics' released at the same time might take off ( especially with posters on here, essentially a forum for German cars/TVRs ) but I think 'Modern Classics' cornered the market early on so don't think 'German Classics' ever made it to Issue 2 ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

This months has the Citroen BX 16 valve, another forgotten gem which probably hasn't been featured in any other car magazine for 15-20 years!
I know, great car! The owner is on here too - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... (if it hasn't been mentioned already!)![byebye](/inc/images/byebye.gif)

I'm not complaining though - I enjoy reading a few car mags!

Great magazine, read every issue since its release and it's great. I used to love Evo, i still buy it but it's just not the same anymore now half of the people have left.
Interesting. I've bought every issue of Popular Classics but also have restarted buying EVO.Edited by Mike1990 on Saturday 12th August 12:21
Why? John Barker is back, Steve Sutcliffe (ex Autocar) is contributing too...
So to answer your concern, you have both the original editors, Meaden and Barker on the magazine once more and interesting journos like David Vivian, Peter Tomalin and the aforementioned Sutcliffe onboard too....In other words most of the longest serving specialist motoring press writers of the past 20 years.....
i kinda like the mag, but it make some questionable assessments.
Aug issue selected the 350Z as their preferred soft-top sportscar, "It's almost as engaging as to drive as the Lotus".
By all means make a case for a balanced, do everything car, but don't stretch credibility.
They also chose a Barchetta over an MR2 mkIII. i'm less experienced in those and certainly not back-to-back, but that also jarred with my recollections too. Another article on Clio vs XR2 seemed way more considered and credible. Same writer too. mmm.

Yeah I found the verdict re the 350z interesting. To be fair they only said "almost as engaging", not "almost as dynamic"...which is something different entirely. Engaging really just means enjoyable and for example, I used to enjoy driving my Cinquecento Sporting almost as much as the Mk1 Elise I had for a day back in the 90s when I owned the Fiat, even though obviously, the Lotus was streets ahead dynamically.Aug issue selected the 350Z as their preferred soft-top sportscar, "It's almost as engaging as to drive as the Lotus".

I think they just believed the 350z was the best balance of performance, enjoyability and value and they probably are right, as 350z roadsters are particularly cheap.
re the Barchetta. I do remember some motoring mags preferring the little Fiat to the competition at the time, but agree that choosing one over an MR2 seems a little far fetched!!!
I note that Modern Classics has now been added to the Readly app and this includes all back issues.
