Why why why why did you need to post that....I've had 3 already ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
These have always been on the list of cars I must own! I'm not sure what exactly it is I like about them but I like them all the same ![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
For the sake of everyone can the OP please just go and buy that Honda. Today. No messing unless it is a Cat C or something.
It is a bargain and seems to tick every single box the OP has and is a very good car to boot.
A dealer will not take £2000 for that Saab unless they are desperate or it is horrible and they got it cheap. It is a £1800-£1900 car at auction after fees.

He won't , next month he'll start another thread asking exactly the same question. It is a bargain and seems to tick every single box the OP has and is a very good car to boot.

Every single car someone comes up with there will be a reason it's no good.
Fact is if you have a budget of £2000 then you have to cut your cloth accordingly ( or take out a loan)
Look at the bargain basement thread there are loads of people driving sub £1500 cars and they get them in/out of work with no problems every day.
The Honda does look a cracking buy, on the basis of what the OP is after. No harm in having a look OP, you don't have to buy it. If you can compromise, hopefully on as few things as possible, and get a car like that Honda without taking the loan. Then I think you're 'quids in', so to speak.

I thought everyone knew about the sump thingy? They have a problem with clogging oil ways unless they're been run solely on fully synthetic oil.
As far as I knew, a sump drop and clean is highly recommended as the engine can destroy itself which writes the car off as there are pretty much no second hand engines available. For that very reason.

I'm glad you don't like it. It would be a shame to see it owned by someone who would treat it with such contempt.
Go get a white A3 diesel on PCP and then you can impress the neighbours with your flashy car and new number plate.
That's something of a false dichotomy...Go get a white A3 diesel on PCP and then you can impress the neighbours with your flashy car and new number plate.
Just because you don't like a 20 year old Citroen doesn't mean that you would there want a White A3 diesel.
I wouldn't have either.

It's a big risk buying unseen. You've successfully done it - great for you. Just my luck I do it and get a crapheap. And if that happens then what?
Where did you get your Saab from? What you bought is exactly what I'm looking for. Why would silver dash and a different colour interior all of a sudden be so difficult to find? Why should those two tiny things make the car well over my budget instead of within it like you got?
If 2K is all you have, why are you making such a big deal over the colour of a dash or interior over something like reliability and service history? If getting to work and seeing your kids is your top priority (and rightly so), then who gives a f![](/inc/images/censored.gif)

Case in point? I was in a similar situation in 2012. I was doing 90 mile round trips to work and my 1993 325i that was everything I wanted in terms of spec suddenly had a load of serious problems. I needed a car quick and ended up with being saved by my brother, who worked at a Vauxhall dealership and had just had in part-ex a 2001 Mk3 Mondeo in with 106,000 miles, FSH and one owner from new. It has a beige interior, laquer peel on one rear wing and a manual when I prefer autos. Did I walk away because it had beige seats? No. It was a cracker of a car and admittedly I got it for less than half its value at the time, but while I still don't like the colour of the seats, it's been a wonderful car that I still have 4 years later, peeling paint and all. Only this year have I upgraded to a 'smart' car for the weekends.

Let's be honest Devil, we all know why he's dismissing certain cars.
If you followed his previous threads he only wanted something with a premium badge as an 'upgrade' to the mondeo, so was looking at old 5 series, Audi's, because they had the image.
He's the typical leased boggo diesel audi candidate....

I'm not into Saabs, but did my usual eBay hunting a few weeks ago, since I fancy a different car or bike pretty much every day of the week, followed by a few minutes research. The information is out there, and not difficult to find.
I'm sure it's not difficult to find that information. But you said you thought everyone knew about the sump problems, like it's common knowledge. DoubleD said:

I'm sure it's not difficult to find that information. But you said you thought everyone knew about the sump problems, like it's common knowledge. I didn't mean it like that of course, I meant that everyone looking at petrol engined Saabs should know, as the first thing we all ought to do when expressing a vague interest in a particular product is have a quick look at what the internet says about them.
So to rephrase a little, it's not common knowledge in general, but to anyone looking at Saabs (petrol at least), it should be. Shouldn't it?

41K miles, all the toys and a lovely sounding quad-cam V6, just ask if the belts have been done.

I'm not quite sure why you have fixated on that car, there are some odd things in the advert I'd want answers to:
1) Owned since August 2013, but new brakes fitted under warranty in September 2015? Two year warrenty on a 10 year old car.
2) Sump drop and clean. That's going a bit far for routine maintenace, unless these have a known issue, if so then I wouldn't be looking at one as my only means on transport if that transport is so crucial.
3) New brakes fitted in November 2014. Did it have the new brakes in November 2014 or September 2015? Or worse, both, indicating a problem with something
4) Alarm batteries low, but new ones included. If it was such an easy fix, why doesn't he fit them and remove it from the problems list.
5) Previous owner self service, including a sump drop, but the is no paperwork. So has the sump been dropped once or twice and we now find it has no service history.
Car's in this price point are a compromise, because they are never going to be perfect. But I wouldn't consider going to look at that, and I'm only a 30 minute drive from it!

The owner says it has always been run on synthetic. Firstly, how can he back this up without a service history and secondly, if it has, why has the sump needed dropping at lest once, if not twice?
OP, ignore this car, there are too many questions hanging over it. Stop getting hung up on badges and get another Mondeo. Which are a damn good car for the budget you have.
