Stolen Golf R & Touareg R
Discussion
Its a shame car theft has come to this nowadays, I got burgled once, they didnt even take anything but its an awful feeling knowing someone has been ransacking through your house so I cant imagine what its like to actually confront a bunch of s face to face violently barging their way in for your keys and then having to sleep in the same house the night after.
Think id rather get dragged out of the drivers seat in traffic tbh.

A friend of my fathers, an ex copper once told me that if you ever needed to assault an intruder to use the line 'he was coming straight at me' when questioned by them. Takes it from aggravated to self defence.
Yeh, Tony Martin tried that one.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/88147...
Wasn't the Tony Martin case considered to be a bit "pre-meditated" ?
Taking aim with a shotgun and squeezing off a shot wont count as self defence if someone is running off, as Mr Martin discovered.

If you think you can deal with 4 blokes armed with machetes then fair play to you but I know who my money would be on...
I've seen the outcome numerous times and its not pretty.
Happy to take those odds. ;-)If you think you can deal with 4 blokes armed with machetes then fair play to you but I know who my money would be on...

You think I could make money from the footage.....?
They will get the keys it's just a question of how much force they have to use and on whom until you play ball.

I find it interesting that everyone assumes that anyone who breaks into their house is only there to steal their keys and nothing else, as if by flinging them a set of car keys they'll doff their cap and be on their way. In the past I've been unfortunate enough to spend time around the sort of people who break into houses, and thinking and acting rationally would not be their strong point. If at all possible, I'd rather avoid the situation altogether rather than rely on the goodwill of some scumbag.
I definitely think it is worth while taking house security seriously; security glass on vulnerable windows and security doors are are worthwhile investment, as is a proper alarm and CCTV. Someone with a £20k+ car on the driveway probably shouldn't have cheap PVC doors.
Thankfully I've never had someone break into my house so I can't say for sure how I'd react. In the words of some mad yank though; "it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6"

My next door neighbour was telling me a few months ago that he was selling a sofa on Gumtree and two chaps (who were well built meatheads) turned up to collect it. He has a sign on his gate saying "beware of the dog" but his dog died a few years ago. Apparently they rang at the gate asking if it is safe to come in with the dog.
Moral of the story, even if you haven't got a dog, put a sign on your gate saying you've got a big attack dog!

Well hopefully one day we'll find out! ;-)
I restrained from replying so far, but seriously, HOPEFULLY???So, the thought of you being injured, maimed or killed, or the alternative of you pulverising/killing him/them meaning police attention/arrest, possibly prison, and their friends/family wanting revenge on you (however hard you are I'd warrant you not do well against a petrol bomb through your front window) appeals to you? Jees, I suggest you need an outlet for your pent up anger.

I'm saying nothing
A thought regarding big dogs, which always worries me; one of ours is a Dobe X, he's 55kg of muscle, and I have no doubt he could bring most, if not all intruders down. He's fiercely territorial, and I know beyond any doubt that he'd go for anyone in the house without permission. I personally dread that should we ever get broken in to he could end up seriously injured or killed, say by the intruder stabbing him. Let's hope that should it ever happen his bark is enough to deter them.

My keys are kept upstairs in my bedroom. Anyone breaking in will have to come into that room and I assure you they will not be leaving with their body parts intact. 1, 2, 3 of them - it doesn't matter they will be dealt with and swiftly despatched.
You are a pussy! You are a loser!...You are not men!
...
If any of you remember the recent thread on here about the tv program about the SAS - do you think any of those SAS men 'leave their keys downstairs' because the 'car is covered by the insurance'?
NO - they do not!! Because they are men... You are LOSERS!
So if I am not confident of being able to overcome three members of an organised criminal gang entering my bedroom, armed with knives in the middle of the night, I am not a man.You are a pussy! You are a loser!...You are not men!
