I saw an M reg, MKI Mondeo 24v SALOON(!) with regulation taped up bumper a couple of hours ago and haven't seen one for ages of any flavour, never mind the V6. The MKIII is starting to get thin on the ground too.
I saw an N reg hatch pottering down the middle lane of the A3 yesterday, looked like it was still going pretty well. So there are a few left!

I believe the MK2 Mondeo was the worst for the taped up bumper as you used to see them at speed

with the centre flapping like a mad thing.

It was never going to last long with flappage like that.

There's a mid 90s Sunny Hatch, a Mk1 XR2 and an S reg Escort Saloon that I see regularly. I work with a guy who runs a 96 318i and a 93 Mondeo. Neither are on especially good shape. He must be earning at least 70k as well so it's not through necessity.

I see loads. The petrol ones are proper road cockroaches - timing chains that rattle on forever but rarely seem to snap and bodywork that isn't prone to rust

Mk1 Freelanders seem to have all died. Not a bad thing to happen mind you.

I was just thinking the other day how I've not seen many Mk3 Astras around for a while, where 10 years ago the classifieds were full of them. The thought was spurred after I saw a 306 XSi parked round the corner from my house and I remembered when the college car park was full of 306s, whereas they're a bit of a rare sight on the road these days.

Mk1 Mondeos have all but disappeared now too, and I've not seen many W201 Merc C-classes around for a while. The (pre-facelift) Vauxhall Frontera seems to be dying out too.
Funnily enough on a recent trip to Hastings I saw 5 MK3 Astras over the course of two days, prior to that I can't remember the last time I saw one. Also saw 2 MK3 Cavaliers in the same trip, very strange.

I also can't recall the last time I saw a Nissan Primera P10, my mum had one years ago but upon checking the GOV website it seems that died sometime in 2010.

No, but nearby biggrin in fact, I can see it from my house.

Considering how many (loads) I saw on the road when they were new, there seems to be relatively rather few nowadays.

Rover 600 and 800 too, I suppose. There's one 600 I see near work occasionally. I think those Hondas and Rovers have been mostly missing for ten years or more now

You might be right here. I do actually see more B5 passats too. I normally see more of older cars due to where I am though.

The 1991 - 1998 Astra F seemed to go from totally ubiquitous to extinct overnight. The youngest ones are 19 years old this year I suppose, but I actually cannot remember the last time I saw one and I don't think they have much of an enthusiast following either. Now they aren't so common as to be ignored there is actually a lot to admire about the design! Several family members had them and aside from eletric shocks on exit and a propensity to steam up really badly they all gave sterling service.

A few on eBay - including a very expensive GSI.

I've seen a few. I think they're supposed to be quite reliable or easy to look after.
They are. I owned a 1.6 16v and replaced the cambelt in my driveway without needing to jack the car off the ground.

This thread describes my fleet - an X-reg BMW 318i and a N-reg 525i. They'll probably be the last cars I own that I'm happy working on myself.
I've a pal who owns one with the special faded-to-fk red paint look. She bought it as cheap runaround when she stated her own business, spent £400 before MOT getting it a new cambelt and tyres and has ran it on buttons for about five years now. I've gone from viewing it as a joke to having a grudging respect for its refusal to die.

Vanished car for me is the Mk 1-2 Mondeo. These things were EVERYWHERE. I think there's one in my entire town with the obligatory dodgy bumper. I'd almost consider saving an ST24, but I sadly don't have the space.

I also saw a totally mint Cavalier late last year. Wasn't a GSI or anything special, but just a really handsome car before the Vectra replaced it.

Not near me. Neighbour has one, couple of work colleagues have them and a mate has 3 within the family! But agree not Land Rovers finest creation..
