Listen. I have owned many cars, non Lexus, and the Lexus out drives the lot. That it not only steers better than the Merc, rides better but also corners better speaks volumes. And I get to drive on some of the best roads in the world.

You’re the dumb narrow minded schmuck - not me.
Which 911 Cab did you own?

Genuine question. Why do you start so many posts with the word 'listen' when you are typing and not speaking?

Figure of speech.

Likewise. We should meet up some time. I know a cracking owl sanctuary.

Ita amusing really/ the GS250 is just a bit of a bit of nothing, can’t challenge the more sporting cars for dynamics and isn’t a match for less pointy cars regarding running costs. That’s why they don’t sell, they’re a niche. Even the best (attainable) car they ever made, the IS-F isn’t widely adopted. No LSD, and still missing the details that bother the M and AMG cars deliver. I’m sure the US market is still good for them, straight roads and big cup holders always go down a treat out there.
As a drivers car, they’re just crap.

Err - the ISF from 2008 came with an LSD unlike the bum lick car of choice, the c63 where it was confined to a special pay extra per month option performance pack. The RCF and GSF come with them standard.

The GS250 has very low running costs. It’s very economical and the quoted figures sell it short. I’ve had over 50mpg from mine in rural France and it averages late 30s mpg. Given the cost of petrol and diesel I’d say it’s a dead heat between it and my old E350cdi. I wasn’t expecting this. The new petrol engines are amazing.

Dynamics wise it’s a better drive than my old C class which came with the AMG line package but yet it’s ride and comfort beat the E class.

As a car to drive it really is superb and I wasn’t expecting it to be like this. The roaring v6 petrol adds a layer of excitement and drama no diesel will ever give.

Oh - and nothing has gone wrong with it. Which means it’s all the more enjoyable to have.

Maybe I should dig deep and get a used GSF as opposed to a newish ES when the time comes. What do you think?

That’ll be the facelift. You’ve read the reviews, so you know why the ‘bum lick’ (really?) AMG and M cars were better as a drivers car. Ride on the ISF has never got better, how was the one you drove, the one at work was very crash?
Where to start with the GS, I’ll be kind and say it doesn’t break very much, but as something to wake up on a weekend and get excited about, lol, never.

Over 50mpg out of it eh, well, I’ll call BS on that. Not that there’s much point to pushing on in something which has the buzz of a mk4 Ford Escort.

I feel you’ve found your level with Lexus. You’ve given up on driving and compare ever to dull as dishwater Mercs.

So.

Which 911 have you driven. And what M3 or AMG cars?

Actually I have had 50mpg from it. It’s a very economical car and in a country with an 80k limit it’s very doable. On the motorway it returns well over 40mpg.

As a car to drive I myself cherish my time driving it. It makes me happy. You ought to try one. You might see first hand just what a fabulous car you’re missing out on.

Down a hill, preferably off a cliff, just maybe. But, generally I'll wager 24-27, like they all do.

Now.

Tell me about the IS-F, M3, 911, C43, C55 that you have driven.

No. Perhaps because I’m a capable driver that’s what I get. To get 24-27 out of these you’d have to be driving pretty much in town and/or in a very aggressive way.

The Lexus sounds a bit st:

Who'd have thought?

As a shed to tool around in a few years down the line, they will probably be great. But who on God's earth would have one as a sole car?

Unless you don't care about cars of course...

Fair price for the 911, certainly far better value than it was thirty years ago.

The 992 looks amazing in convertible form. The ultimate daily...
Again, imagination...

"1973 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA RS 2.7 TOURING SPECIFICATIONS: Price when new $14,000"

What is $14,000 in today's money (the above being 1973)? $79,000, or about £60k. 911's are more expensive now than they used to be.

Couple of things. Your maths is way off. 1973 was 46 years ago. 1989 is 30 years ago which I what I said.

Secondly, as we are in England use the BoE inflation calculator. A Carrera 2 Cab was around £50k in 1989. In today’s money that’s £122k

Do you believe everything you read in a £3/week motoring rag.

Speak to actual owners - all they have to say is good words about the cars. They’re awesome and I’m happy with it as my only car. I like cars. If I didn’t I’d drive a diesel golf.

That is one of the worst cars I've seen for a performance/economy mix...so its no wonder that it is a rare sight. A N/A engine mated to an auto gearbox never makes for a great combination for me either.

My E90 330i auto used to scream its backside off everytime you went to overtake anything...and this is much slower than that was and I thought the 330i was slow! Lexus don't seem to be in the business to sell cars...that is for sure.

So it’s a 9 sec 60 car, 30mpg, and it’s geared for a soft ride. Exactly what I’m saying.

Now. M3, 911, C43.

Have you driven or owned any of them or are you talking out of your ass?

Of course he hasn't. Why would he? He drives a Lexus which is far superior to all of them.

This has to be the weirdest car related thread derailment for some years on PH.

I’m just amused that now 911 owners are getting attacked for being PCP white goods trash.

Apparently no better than all the other VAG products. Wonder what he’ll say when he googles Porsche SE?

It’s laughable, but his devotion to the brand is admirable, it might be founded on nonsense, but admirable all the same smile
