Just catching up on the thread, great work 0a! Petrol station pic to follow I'm sure.

I agree about Palmier ads, definitely shill bidding going on there, I bet if you looked at a few of his auctions you'd find the same accounts bidding it up to his "reserve" to minimise the listing fee.

Thought the bids looked dodgy but actually most of them are trying to beat a high bid by a***l and then bottling out.

Yes but I looked at the same list first thing this morning and if you look at the bidding activity of some of those bidders it's like 30% bidding activity just with him?

In for another volume!

Went to Spa this weekend with the good lady. The old shed took it very well, in spite of some Belgians doing Belgian things on the roads... It always does. Euro trip No. 4 with it now. Found an old castle to take a snap with too. smile

Great! smile

Also, they really are quite awful at driving aren't they (Belgians)? Whenever we're in France and we see a Begian registered car we give it a wide berth. We used to have elderly Belgian neighbours over there and one day coming towards my wife in the E39 Touring he, driving as if he were a racing driver as he did absolutely all the time in his clapped out Mercedes W202, took her wing mirror off! Then he tried to claim she had been driving on the wrong side of the road.

I fixed our smashed wing mirror by buying a second-hand assembly off Ebay here and shipping it over. He tried to present us, some months later (!) with a bill for several hundred Euros for a whole new one from a Mercedes-Benz main-dealer over there. I told him if that was the case he could take it up with the relevant insurance companies and then didn't here anymore! LOL!

They moved back to Antwerp now thankfully.

I think it something to do with a very lacks driving test in Belgium, isn't it?

Drivning through Belgium can be a hair raising experience. Helps with homesickness when it reminds me of driving around the North Circular or Hayes / Southall laugh

That seems classic Belgian, absolutely. They have nice cars, but just drive at spaces that don't exist. After a while I just end up pulling out too, as they seem to move around and don't get too upset.

The first time I had to drive in Belgium it was through the centre of Brussels at rush hour. I never wish to repeat such an experience... hehe

It's only for the last 30 days. If you look at how many items they've bid on it'll just be because they've only bid on a couple. It doesn't look dodgy to me.

Forgive me fathers for I have sinned - I'm starting to covet other things

I worry that I'm waivering and in danger of straying from the flock. As accomplished as the LS is, it just feels a little dull now. It can lift it's skirt a bit, but it only starts to gallop when the speed limit is being passed.
The JDM stuff appeals, I do like a nice subtle Crown or Cedric, but keep finding myself looking at Imprezas, Audi TTs and golf GTIs (I need something big enough to take my foldable massage table, hence the MX5 and z3/4 not being on the list).
I know it's folly to chase silly acceleration and handling, but I find myself being drawn from the leather patched elbows of your welcoming arms. What is a man to do.

Get the Cedric, if only for the feel good factor of the name alone!

I've often thought that a marker of true personal success must be demonstrated by the ability of someone to simultaneously own a Cedric...and a Gloria!

cool

I wonder if just somewhere, some obscure place, anywhere in this whole, wide world there is a family where the Dad is called Cedric, the Mum is Gloria they have a daughter called Carina and a son who is Sunny?

It then goes without saying because of simple extrapolation that their dog is....Bongo!

It's possible!

Ponk do you have space for >1 car? The answer, imho, is another car which fulfils what's missing.

e.g. MX5 + Barge + shed estate covers many bases.

I've seen a rather tidy LS400 about locally (Chesterfield) and recently drove past by where it lives, next to a pre-fab on the edge of a council estate. Just as I passed, the owner came out and went to the car, an elderly gent who looked even older than me (stop smirking, it's possible!).

It's good to know that there are at least two old farts in town who appreciate gliding around in luxury now and again even if I do it in an un-loved (by barge threadists at least) A8. Perhaps the two of us ought to have our own meet at the OAP centre but not for too long and best before our afternoon snooze in case we never wake up again...
