Not a wind up question, but why not put it on the bonnet and leave it there?
Still wouldn't be exactly legal, don't they have to be on a vertical surface?

Normal is normal. Weird is actually a description of the abnormal/not normal behaviour of an individual..

Its not normal practice to bodge a plate, as seen by the low numbers on the road today.
Its even less normal to run around like a child calling everyone who disagrees with your weird/abnormal names because you cant win an argument. laugh

Personally, I'm looking forward to the pictures of you acting like an infant because someone mentions within earshot that your plate looks naff.
There is no arguement, as I keep on trying to explain, it's their choice. And has nothing whatsoever to do with you. I wonder why you think it does? That is not 'normal'. Do you stop and point out other choices to people as 'not normal' or is your condition restricted to number plates?

Oh, I fully agree its there choice and as you know I have never disagreed with that point. Which is why I am surprised that you are trying to imply that I have.

I am more interested din why you keep going on about other peoples choices yourself. It seems that you are wholly incapable of understanding a viewpoint other than your own?

That's the real issue here.

Some cars like supercars were clearly designed for markets where front plates were a requirements.

Its factually incorrect to say A LOT of cars fall in that bracket, as its a minority market share and no where near parity in numbers with those that were designed with number plates in mind.

Considering the fact that the UK has required vehicles to have number plates at the front for many years, I find it amusing (in a condescending way) that people suddenly forget that obvious nugget of information, when they decide their cars look better without them.

Its very similar to someone buying a house next to an existing race track, railway or airport and then complaining about the noise.

So the issue is mine, despite the fact that I really don't give a fig what someone else does to their car, yet you, and others, can quite happily moan and groan about it, even to the point of a daft thread and supporting pictures.

Yep. That's one giant leap there biggrin

If there is no argument - Why do you boys keep complaining that everyone disagrees with you.

Nobody cares!!

I'm not complaining about anyone agree or disagreeing with. Just making a point about different opinions.

If you had read the entire thread, you would see the usual number plate police out and about, moaning about legalities, about 'what it says about them', all that general bs. I can't see how that's reasonable really?

I mean, they have one cesspit thread, why can't they stick to that?

Does it count that I ran without one for a few months on my Lotus Elise when a screw gave out at the front? Being horribly lazy it took a few months to be bothered to buy and then refit a new one. I actually got pulled over for it too - rightly so. No issues with officer, he was very relaxed.

Car looked better without, but I would have no intention of purposefully removing.

I don't have a front number plate because I was told removal of the plate would make me more attractive to women.
And it does!
When I return to my parked Audi, it's always surrounded by nubile beauties insisting on sharing my bed.
Unfortunately, the last girl I picked up had her teeth knocked out when the plate flew off the dash owing to the wicked acceleration of my sick diesel whip.

I've just had a quick look in PH cars sale ads, and it seems as if a Lamborghini Aventador for example, doesn't need/have a front number plates. None seem to have them! What I'd like to know, what does a 4" x 24" bit of plastic do to the airflow through to the radiator, and the front aerodynamics of the car. The front of the Lambo doesn't look as if an allowance for the number plate was ever thought about. Incidentally, if you follow shmee150 on youtube, during his USA tour, seems almost no USA hypercars sprout a front number plates.

There aren't many things I can think of that are a legal requirement to display in public on things that we own.

Car plates are the obvious one. Aircraft registrations? Canal boat registrations? A premises license (arguably not a public place)? Taxi license?

Do owners of the above routinely bugger about with those registrations, either tinting them, mis spacing, adding random dots, changing font style/size, adding humourous text underneath, adding a football team logo to one side, 'deleting' them entirely?

Also, if delete = remove, what is car speak for 'add'?
I can only speak for my industry but when it comes to private aircraft yes they absolutely do.

Genuinely interested, what do people do to modify aircraft registration numbers?
