Hahaha!!! Go on, admit it - it was ME who gave you the inspiration for this weeks shed, wasn't it?? Haha!! I feel very proud and honoured (even if the individual converting his auto to manual from the 'Blackwings' thread, was the one who inspired me!! Haha!!). So I've already seen this ad from earlier in the week, only to confirm for myself that they WERE indeed in 'shed territory': nice to see you guys feel it deserves a wider audience! Haha! laughlaugh
I do have compassion for men who have been so emasculated to the point that external validation is the only thing that keeps them alive and making them feel they are men. I mean, you have to write an article to ridicule a vehicle (Peugeot 607) simply because you hate me and wanted to condemn a vehicle I own publicly? That's is the lowest I have ever seen a man drop to. I know boys in UK and other Western countries have been and are still being raised like girls (thanks to your feminism), but never knew it will get this bad where an adult man thinks and act like a girl, not even like a woman.

I am still expecting you to publish other condescending /negative articles on Peugeot 406 and 505 (since I own them these vehicles too) , so that you get tap on your back by your fellow majority PH Peugeot haters to continue to feeling good about yourself.

You really need a maasculine boy or man around you to groom you into a masculine boy before you even think of becoming a man, because your attitude didn't reflect masculinity at all, since all you care about is other people's acceptance and validation online from your fellow French car haters to feel you still matter.

I mean, simply because you didn't get response from me on the manual Cadillac thread where you insulted Manual car lovers and you have to write a condescending article on one of the car models I own and start a new thread on it just to get my attention? Very pathetic!

Besides, following me around in PH is quite disgusting. Did I tell you I am gay? I am a Monk. I have zero interest in having sex or any sexual relationship with any man or woman. So, trolling me on this low for my attention is disgusting to me, honestly speaking.

Since you are this weak and effeminate, I honestly wish you to find help as quickly as possible. By the way, emoticons are for females (girls and women). My words express what I mean as a man. If you can't say what you mean without using emoticons (emotions), then you are too feminine to engage in a masculine conversation.

I had one of these a 607 2.2d about 10 years ago, I was the 2nd owner, it was quite low mileage with FSH.

When I read through the service history the car had bills that added together from the first 3 years was over the sale price when new, luckily most of it was warranty covered. No idea why anyone would put up with all the problems for a bland 3 box saloon (ok it was quite comfy!).

Have been going to France with the family for years. I love seeing old French clunkers in daily use. Often see 605’s, 607’s, Safranes, 25’s, many XM’s and CX’s and occasionally the odd Renault 20 / 30. However I have never seen the wonderful looking (a car from my childhood) Peugeot 604.

I remember looking at a used 604 with my Dad in the late 1970’s. He ended up buying an Audi 100 5E. Happy Days😃.

The last 604 I saw was parked in a street in Abu Dhabi. Would have been about 2008.

To give PSA credit, when I was at Citroen we used to hardly replace any PSA engines at all-they were actually reasonably well built if they were maintained properly (DV6, I’m looking at you). Reliability wise they were not significantly better/worse overall than any other mainstream manufacturer.

I think the 607 like most big French stuff didn’t make (financial) sense when it was new, but makes a cracking big wafty barge secondhand buy if you’re happy maintaining it yourself to keep costs down.

Wasn't it offered with the 2.7 V6 diesel towards the end of its life?
yes

Interestingly, the Lion V6 installation wasn't completrly engineered by PSA. A large portion of the work was subcontracted to JLR, as PSA didn't have the engineering experience of the engine (it was essentially a Ford-engineered unit that PSA gained a supply of through the JV agreement).

We had about half a dozen of them in Gaydon Building 507 in the early 2000s for the installation and initial calibration. They were then returned to PSA for work on setting the driveability characteristics that they wanted.

Peugeot 607 shared same/identical mechanicals with Peugeot 406 ( apart from variable suspension in V6 petrol 607 and AM6 gearbox in later V6 607 models). Early 607 (Z8) also share same electricals (not identical) with 406, while later 607 (Z9) share 407 electricals. The Z9 electricals is multiplexing. So, they are not meant to be used harshly like VAN-bus can take. Peugeot 607 is more like a luxury version of Peugeot 406.

The successful EW Engines in 406 also proved their bulletproof nature in 607 (EW10J4 & EW12J4). The Z8 607 with these Engines got identical 5-speed manual gearbox in 406 2.2i, but was improved to 6-speed manual in Z9 models (EW10J4 was dropped in Z9). These gearboxes can last forever, as long as you maintain the 75w-80 oil in them.

The petrol V6 in 406 (ES9J4S) is same V6 in 607 Z8 and later revised to ES9A in Z9. They are also bullet proof when properly maintained, especially when you stick with recommended Engine oil : 10w-40 (PSA B71 2300) & 5w-40 (PSA B71 2296). The higher you rev them, the sweeter they sound. Recommended timing belt change interval is 9 years or every 180,000 km (whichever comes first) for arduous conditions of use.

607 V6 with manual transmission consume less than 607 with Automatic Gearbox. From personal experiences & observations, 607 manual transmission consume close to 406 V6 manual transmission on highway. On many occasions, I have averaged 40 mpg on highway with my 406 V6 manual (same Engine in 607) , when I am not in fun drive mode on highway.

607 V6 is quicker than 407 V6 with same Engines and Transmissions, considering the 607 weigh less than 407, among other things.

The 607 suspension is similar to that of 406 & 605. The front 607 dampers and stabilizer links are same with 406 (infact, the stabilizer links are identical parts, while the 4-cylinder shock absorber are similar). The 607 rear crossmember or suspension set-up is almost identical to that of 605, including both the V6 & I-4 versions).

My 406 V6 manual was produced in year 2000, while my 607 V6 produced in 2007. Both of them have had from new till this moment the following: same Engines, same head gaskets (never opened any of the Engines), same alternators, same clutch kits, same torque converter, same manual gearbox, same Automatic Gearbox, same front & rear brake discs, same ECUs, same gadgets/Electronics, same wiring harnesses (never touched any), same fuses (never replaced any), same fuse boxes, same cooling fans, same AC compressors, same body paint, same headlights and rear lights, same brake master Cylinders, same remote controls, etc.

As old as these two cars of mine are; as often as I use the 607 for road trips or journeys, I don't know what else people expect or define as "unreliable" if all mentioned above and many more are still in tact since both cars were sold brand new 20 years ago and 14 years ago (including their current mileages). Can anyone point at any non PSA/Peugeot vehicle he has owned or currently own that has never broken down or malfunctioned? How many of these vehicles still have the parts I mentioned still in tact that are of similar ages or mileages?

I have been a member of PH since 2011 and have been observing quietly how bad majority of members who have no first experience with some of these PSA vehicles they condemn for the sake of feeling belonging with ridiculous claims, based on what they saw open people posts or position other people took on PSA vehicles. I have decided to be silent no more. I am here now to correct those wrong assumptions from members who don't think for themselves and also to educate those who want to learn about Peugeot vehicles, their systems and their preventative maintenance tips to keep them in good shapes/conditions.
