Council removing my legally parked vehicle?

OP sounds like a neighbour of mine a couple of doors down, who has an ample driveway (on which he parks his fairly sheddy Peugeot 407) and parks his LWB Fiat Ducato panel van almost every day on directly outside my house, impairing visibility to get on and off our driveway safely. I've politely asked him not to, explaining that it was difficult to see past and we didn't want to have an accident; he grunted at me and knuckle-dragged his way off, leaving it where it was, and continues to park like that most days.
Much like the OP, it seems he is of the view that he should do what he likes because it's not illegal, even though there are other choices he could make which would be more considerate to others and of little/no detriment to himself.
Parking seems to bring out the absolute worst of people , so much so that there's been a couple of recent cases where people have committed double murder over parking disputes. Seems like the moral of the story is to get a large enough driveway and garage to keep busy bodies in the general public and council out of your parking arrangementsMuch like the OP, it seems he is of the view that he should do what he likes because it's not illegal, even though there are other choices he could make which would be more considerate to others and of little/no detriment to himself.
So did this actually happen?
A quick look at the ops posting history has them being in their mid 30’s yet also past retirement, having no cars, a classic car and now a van that hasn’t moved for 6 months yet is apparently insured. And being WFH and being injured in work all at the same time…….

That's a bit strange, isn't it? Perhaps they will clarify these anomalies presently? I'm thoroughly annoyed with Croydon council. I have a van which is taxed, mot'd and insured. It's legally parked on the road in a designated parking bay. I don't drive the van much, and it's been sat for at least 6 months.
The van is parked on a side road to my house, and I don't check on it that often. I walked past the van this evening to find a notice of removal sticker placed on the window telling me that they're going to remove it unless I contact them within 7 days (it's been 6 days since the sticker was placed on it). Ok it looks filthy. But how is it legal to remove a legally parked vehicle? Isn't this harassment?
The notice says that if my vehicle is taken, claims may be subject to removal and storage fees, or destroyed if the value of it is less than the cost of removal.
Obviously I'm going to contact them and give them a few choice words, but what recourse do I have if I hadn't spotted this in time and they'd scrapped my vehicle?

Why do you have a crappy van you clearly don’t need cluttering the place up?

Reminds me of Prince William arriving in St Andrews. Police decided all vehicles on North Street were to be removed so put cones out and notes on cars a few days beforehand. I used my car about once a week so hadn't seen it (had no call to go to that street unless driving).
They lifted my car and just gave me the recovery company details, being really arsey about things. Recovery company were great - said they'd told the police it wasn't a legal uplift. Just said to come get the car and they'd send the bill to the police instead.
We have done this (local authority highways dept). If we are reconstructing a road and need to move the cars parked on-road, we notice the houses and cars a week beforehand, and if anything is left (as long as it's legal) we get it lifted and moved to the police compound, send a letter to the RK to tell them where they can collect it, but don't charge them. WE want the car moved, so WE absorb the cost. It's rare that it happens but it does happen occasionally. You've never encountered a woman?
I knew how to solve my problem. The sticker told me exactly what I needed to do, as i've done before. The reason why I copied in everyone under the sun is to raise the point that this is harassment when it happens more than once. The council gave me an email address to whom I should address complaints to.
Get a grip OP. Stop acting like a massive baby. Harassment and discrimination, give me a break. Pathetic. I knew how to solve my problem. All I know is that they DO ask that specific and claiming that they DONT ask is rubbish.
I have also still been asked the At Home question separately, to the on street one.
But, looking again who is asking why?, I’m not remotely surprised.
All my insurers ask: "is it on a driveway", "is it in a garage". When you don't answer "garage" or "driveway", they absolutely don't ask, "how close to your house is it parked"..... hence my question "why?". No one cares where it is if you don't declare it to be in a specific place. Tricky stuff ;-)I have also still been asked the At Home question separately, to the on street one.

Agreed, I’ve seen some marvellous 6 and 8 vehicle storage systems there. They revolve around like a caterpillar track and deliver your car for you to drive it away.Gibbler290 said:
