Hey hold on, Isn't the Veyron 4WD??? How the hell did he crash that. I keep reading on here that Quattro/4WD provides awesome grip in wet conditions.

Perhaps, the driver had disabled it??? Yeah that must be it...!!!

Each case on its own merits. From what we KNOW about this case, no one nearly died. Have there been any pics of the Astra? Did the Veyron clip it or total it? As the emergency services said hospital was a precaution, I doubt it was totalled. Even more so, as there are no pics of the Astra in the news, I doubt it was heavily damaged.

Every accident is different though. The people involved in the accidents you describe aren't being sensationalist but if I'd come on here and said they nearly died, I would be being sensationalist. "What if" scenarios are good for planning, but not good for investigation. What if I/you/she was in a different car? Well, I/you/she wasn't so it's not relevant.

I suspect the reasons that there are no photos of the Astra is that the photos were taken by passers by. They took photos of the Veyron as you don;t see a one very often, and you see a crashed one even less often. A photo of a crashed Astra is not newsworthy at all. Whilst photo of it almost certainly exist they are unlikely to appear here, unless the driver posts them saying "Look what a Veyron did to my Astra".

Incidentially several news stories say that this is the UKs most expensive road accident is that true? What about that guy driving a Land Rover towing a trailer who fell asleep, ended up on a railine, causing a train accident? Isn't that the largest ever claim?

Where's the "Awww what a shame you bent your car, easily done, at least you're ok, hope you get it fixed soon" brigade now then?

(a) Some young lad tts his Nova, there's photos all over here and people queuing up to point and laugh and go "well that's another banger of the road then hahaha". Not to him it isn't.

(b) Some more mature person who has bought something only few can afford, tts it and we queue up to point and laugh and go "Rich tt, serves him right for showing off".

And the rest of us drive about getting worried about damage to our P&J, polishing it if somebody farts in its general direction, totally blind to the fact that most of the people in group (a) see us as members of group (b). It's all relative.

Regardless of what group you're in, a hypocrite is a hypocrite.

Bloody disgusting.

Lets have some thought for the innocent people in the other car, who could have got killed. Nobody needs that much power in a road car. I know that an arse can crash a 1.o litre hatch but the odds are not good with this VW. Anyway it it a seriously ugly car and one lesss on the road is a good thing

But didn't, so why go on about it?

It doesn't matter how much it has anyway, your only going to go as fast as you drive the car. Its the drivers fault, not the cars.

Bit of a daft thing to say on a motoring website isn't it? With these cars few and far between surely they should be preserved?

Yep, I'm pretty pissed, but you still appear to be a total tt.

Just around the corner from my house some idiot managed to kill their passenger and nearly a fair few others in a corsa, the car / speed has pretty much nothing to do with the accident it's the monkey behind the wheel.
