dumb fool, why would you do that. I guess its as you say you dont own an Aston and probably never would be able to. I bet stupid remarks like this come from a lot of people like yourself who dont have one. If was me, I wouldnt give a st after all I wouldnt drive the Cygnet or buy it. If it came free with an Aston when you buy it, then Id take it and sell it. Other than that, it doesnt bother me.

I would not be suprised now this is out, there would be a load of styling companies preparing their fibreglass moulds in preparation for Toyota IQ's to convert them to Aston Cygnets. In the fashion of Toyota MR2's with Ferrari kits.
Although this one would be more straight forward and 'bolt on' and ready to go, maybe complete with Aston Martin badges. There would probably be more Toyota IQ clones with Cygnet bodykits.

If I owned an Aston and they started to produce that, I'd sell it - quick. I can't understand why this brand would even consider such a thing. rolleyes

I think people here, particularly current Aston owners, should contact AM directly through their website and point out the damage this will do to the brand. If current owners tell Aston that they would not have bought their car if the Cygent existed, that will surely make them sit up and listen.

I am a DB7 owner, and the thought of having aload of 18 year-olds waving AM keys at parties is off-putting, to say the least. (Even if they are the children of DB9 owners, Joe Public will just think they're spoilt brats, and those AM owners who love the cars more than the brand will soon be lost.)

People could also write to Top Gear - I think a Cygnet will have an interesting effect on th Astons' positions on the 'Cool Wall'.

Ok, I understand the reason for it - to bring down Aston Martins fleet Co2. I don't even dislike the Toyota IQ - I wish we got them here in Australia.

But you can't smash Aston DNA onto a Toyota petrie-dish. It looks cack.

LOL, so very true about the a class, even worse when it made a disaster with the rollover incident and Merc then decided to put ESP as standard. It still never stopped the small dick badge snob wannabe buying the a-class just to get their hands on a Merc and think it made them go up in society, but yet they still dont have no manners and still eats around a table with their mouth open, throws rubbish out their window etc.
Same goes for the BMW 1 series, which is 4kin ugly bar the convertable which has different lights and slightly different panels.

Doubt this would push Aston downmarket. After all Audi are launching the A1 soon for mini cocks and I dont think it would put them down.

This is a joke, right?

The wing vents don't even fit on the wings

Eveyone got upset when the Mercedes A-class was launched, because they said it would take the brand downmarket, but then the fall in build quality of all their models began to push them downmarket anyway. Is this the future for Astom Martin?

Going entirely against the grain for a moment.

I want one and I have absolutely no idea whatsoever why.

Lighten up dude,I dont think people would look at it as an "Aston" as they would know its just a rebadged & reworked car. Even if the 18 year old has the Aston key, when they go to the car it would be a different case as peole would know it isnt powerful.

As for the TG coolwall its more of a joke, TG dont seem to take it serious an just puts anything anywhere on the wall.

If this thing cost more than a few apprentices' time and a couple of well targeted PR shots I'd be amazed.

The return on investment is phenomenal.

If AM build it, they will come.

If they don't, the column inches have already caused the management to.

Brilliant, really.

This will be the most exclusive small car there will be.

London will be full of them! Think about it. You cannot buy one unless you have bought a NEW Aston.

Once on sale top spec Mini sales will drop which is why BMW are bringing out a Rolls Royce version.

Top trumps at the highest level.

I'd buy one.

If I was in the position of having a large lumpy car that I didnt like leaving in supermarket car park / pub car parks, train station car parks, etc.. i'd happily have one of these as my run around.

In the initial AM blurb i'm sure they stated that most AM buyers have a second "cheapy" that they use for small local or parked journeys.

At 20k this is cheaper than some Golf's, Focus's better built than the majority of small cars and has a manufacturer who leads the field in reliability.

All the hysteria due to not wanting to devalue the brand laugh

The Mini doesn't looks like it was customised by the dude from the Kazakhstan R-R video, though; this looks like someone's taking the piss. Any news as to wether you'll be able to sell it on, or if it'll be lease-only? If it falls to ~£5K, that'll put it in reach of everyone who desires such tack. It'll do A-M's iamge wonders when these things start rocking up in council estates across the country.

Doesn't mean petrolheads or Aston Martin fans should embrace it. The City Rover had a genuine reason for it's existance, but it was still an object of derision, and rightly so.

Maybe so but think on that when you're offered a 2 litre turbo Aston one day.
