How does that engine not simply explode into lots of little pieces after a few miles?
Anyway, just seen this.... excuse me whilst I clean the dribble off my screen

The last 2 pictures are of a different car
I take it you mean by the lack of the flared arches? Unsure myself aswell as to whether this is the same car, but this car comes in as a kit form complete with Engine & Body Kit. - So maybe a 'work in progress' shot?
Here's another picture but with the lack of the engine cover and strut brace:

I think it might be more to do with them being completely different generations of MX5, pics 1 & 2 are of a mk3 or 3.5 (i can't tell the difference).Pic 4 is a mk2 engine bay, not sure about pic 3 although the colour looks more like the mk2 than the mk3.
Either way, any MX5 with a V8 in it is going to be cool.

Pic three has a different exhaust set up, they finish earlier (maybe for a sleeper effect so you cant see them sticking out of the bumper?)and there is only one recess in the bumper for an exhaustPic 4 is a mk2 engine bay, not sure about pic 3 although the colour looks more like the mk2 than the mk3.

You're right! I wouldn't of known the difference on the engine bay, but you learn something new. Also, it serves me right for skim reading . They do build an alternate sleeper-esque type, one without all the body gubbins. Pic 4 is a mk2 engine bay, not sure about pic 3 although the colour looks more like the mk2 than the mk3.
