Only if it lacks the capability to back up the looks.

The durango has the grunt and the tow rating (proper body on frame construction) and comes with 4 wheel drive.

Compare that to land rovers latest offerings.
Nope, still looks like it's trying too hard.

For a 4x4 to be manly, the styling needs to look like an afterthought.

Why does it look like it's trying to hard? Not every SUV needs to be a defender/wrangler.

by that logic your mazda MX-5 is trying too hard. A real 2 seater is a lotus 7

FFS look at the clearance, and the rear suspension. Its like those fat people whose knees have gone.

Easy to out-run in the real world. Just find an average road and drive along it. If the potholes don't get it the traffic calming will.

This thread was over by the third posting. I used to walk past one of those every day on my way to uni, resplendent in BRG (the car not me).

Ok i'm confused now (no, not in THAT way ;-)

Is this thread about "manly" cars in respect of "a car no women would ever drive or be seen driving" or " a car that a man buys to make himself seem butch/hetro" ??

They definately are not the same !

It just does.

Don't think anyone is saying the MX-5 is a manly car, are they?

Indeed.

If a hells angel pulls up beside you at the traffic lights, what car would you rather be in when he turns to look at you?

An old school muscle car or a pink fiat 500?
Lol I hope you're joking, there's few things in life that are less cool and more gay than fat bearded old men who spend their time dressed in leather, hanging around with other fat leather clad bearded men, riding 'hogs' and acting all butch.

Possibly, but I doubt you would have the balls to tell that to their face smile
