RE: McLaren's shocking one-off X1
Discussion
Wow, a lot of people with no imagination on here
I think it's great. Ugly from the side (but have you seen an Insignia?), like an R8 at the front (largely dictated by the hard points of the Monocell), slinky at the back like something I can't quite put my finger on.
And it's a fully usable, drivable, proper car, not a styling mock-up. Well done MSO - a British company exporting (almost certainly), creating jobs, and showing the world how it's done.
PS: Flemke... is this...?

Looks like a cross between an Audi R8 and a Panther Six, thank christ it's only a one off. Some people really do have more money than sense
exactly what i was going to say - clearly money can't buy taste, this thing is vile. the designer just superglued together a complete mismash of all the cues that the owner wanted. i can't see any audrey hepburn tho, he should have made the exhaust stick out like two long cigarette holders.and i can't remember it now but did he really say words to the effect that every bit of it had a purpose rather than just being for styling!? i'm no car designer, but given a few million quid and a mclaren to play with i seriously think i could have done a much better job, unless the brief was specifically to make a stupid looking car.

I worked on the new series of capt. Scarlet 7 years ago or so and peter stevens designed the main car for it ... This looks a lot like it but even better !
Capt Scarlet was the first though that popped into my head when I first saw the car. Sortly followed by the jetsons and then Audi R8.The designer should be saluted for bravery, and then shot for stupidity.

Am I the only one who likes this?.
You're clearly ill GW.Yup, nothing wrong with it.
Just a different approach to tackle the sportscar theme.
It is interesting to look at it, especially considering there are in fact all the MP12 components underneath.
All the surfaces look well excecuted and there are quite some original features.
It reminds me a bit on Syd Mead stuff. I would like to see it in reality!
One just has to be a bit open minded about it...!
Is there? .

I really like it.
It reminds me of classic cars like Bugatti, Delahaye and the like, but at the same time being totally up to date.
It vastly better than some of the Zagato abominations. And much nicer than that awful thing Ferrari made for Eric Clapton.
Good job, fellas.

What on earth is wrong with everyone. I think it looks fantastic.
It really shows that Mclaren do have a soul and that they can have fun. I think more supercars should look like this, off the wall mental cars.
Ferrari should take a leaf out of Mclarens book and stop making boring pieces of st which are always on fire.
And before all the MP4 12C haters come on saying how dreadful they think the car is, I put this to you i would rather have a car that breaks down than one that burns to a crisp.
