In the 90's the zeitgeist was why do all cars look so alike? Now we have real diversity of styles, design languages, niches et all, yet people all moan about it. Would I buy this type of car, no chance. If anyone else wants to, even if friends, family, wife, their call. No problems here with people all being different.

[quote=LuS1fer]They remind me of skips, stylistically.

A skip or a pram either way it’s a vehicle only bought by idiots.

Wow, that is rather a strong opinion. Should we all buy exactly the same type of 'sensible' car then?

Exactly why I'm not accusing other people of being idiots.......for liking something I might not like.

I am sure you have no idea how much of an idiot your post makes you sound like.

I find it easy to accept that different people like different things even if they don't like the same things as me. Only a prized idiot wouldn't get that IMO.

Pretty much this. The dullest car in the world becomes fun with the roof down. I had a basic Mk1 1.6 Megane soft top for about 3 years. Bloody loved it.

Probably changed since Covid, but generally, people in the UK buy more convertibles than France, Spain and Italy put together.

What were vw actually thinking? It serves no purpose and it looks silly. Who would buy a convertible suv?
There is a couple near me which I think look OK. Their owners seemed to like it as they probably were not forced to buy one.

I reckon it serves the purpose of being a convertible and a SUV, which is more than the purpose of a SUV and more than the purpose of a convertible.

The people in question seem to have found purposes for them, stuff like going places they go to. A bit like a car basically.
Love this. biglaugh

We have better weather for it. They are useless in a hot climate, so no good in southern Europe. Contrary to what most people think, we don't have that many rainy days in the UK, most of time it's dry and not baking hot.

In the South East (which is where I am), we have on average about 109 days a year when there is any rain. That might be all day, but may be for a few minutes at night. So 2 out of 3+ days are dry, and on the days when it does rain, it may only be for a short while.

Like you say, certain parts of the UK are fairly dry and having a softop gives you the chance to enjoy the nice weather.

Absolutely, I have the roof down a few times a week through most of the year.

I'm the exact opposite, but i won't be calling you an idiot. We just like different things.

People who call others idiots for liking different cars to them fail to understand that if everyone liked what they liked, it would probably be a lot more expensive. But I guess the complexities of supply and demand are lost on these knuckle draggers.
