I’ve just bought something ultra rare and interesting. A 1967 Trident Clipper. How many people remember these?

That's the Brubaker Box. Not just a concept car, I think they made a few dozen.

My first thought was 'oooh isn't that one of the gas turbine cars they did?' but then I noticed the SUs sticking out of the engine cover....

Motor Trend have a good documentary on the Brubaker Box. In fact they've got some good stuff on their app at the moment, the Vector W8 and Cizeta V16T are good as well. I'm pretty sure there's a 2 week free trial running for it, good for a binge of Roadkill and Hot Rod Garage too!

What makes a 'concept'? The very first 'concept' car I clicked on is one of at least 70, to my knowledge.

ETA: I looked it up: 84 were built.

I do. There was one around West Wycombe, probably about 10 years ago.

Not a car, but did find it interesting that they made the Bedford CF in an ultra-poverty fleet spec where a rear bumper, passenger seat and factory paint were all optional extras. Imagine how miserable you'd be having to do hundreds of miles a week in that.

Or if your business was doing really well, then you could lord it over your rivals with your sunroof, side repeaters and 2 year warranty.

I have a sneaky suspicion the 2.5 Venturer is actually the same car that I’ve just bought.

Around 90 Tridents were built from 1967 to 1974. The initial 4 were TVR prototypes in 1965, the first 14 or so actual Tridents were based on Healey chassis with a clamshell bonnet in 1967, mine is number 12.
In 1969 they changed them to Triumph chassis and updated them with regular sized front hinged bonnets.

V6 powered ones are called Venturers, V8 ones are called Clippers.
Mine is a Venturer however I’m converting it to Clipper specification.

It makes it pretty ruddy fast for a half century old car.
